Battlestar Galactica

Yes, I know what you mean about the different style etc but, for me it was like the B&W prequel to a modern film. Whether that's what they were aiming for is a different matter but, for me, it only added to the background of the main series. That said, it was very different to Caprica which, using my analogy, would be the 'radio' version but, was more in tune with BSG itself?
Only watched the first series of Caprica, mixed feelings. Some of it I really liked, the corporate and gang stuff but to be honest the teen cast and the virtual world bits got on my nerves. Was an interesting companion piece though and yes, it was closer in tone than B&C. I've heard the second series was good, will catch up with it at some point, but I was itching for each new series of BSG, I watched the first series of Caprica a few years ago and still haven't bothered watching the rest so, kinda says it all.

tried to watch it, even if i started on episode 1 season 1 it felt like i started watching in the middle of a film. wasnt sure what was going on.

you need to start at the 3-hour pilot film: that introduces everything.

Season 1 Episode 1 kicks off right after the events of the pilot.

Was originally the pilot. Now known as the mini-series.

But yes, the mini-series show the Galactica as it is readied for decommissioning. That is when the Cylon attacks happen, and the action starts. Episode 1 continues on, with humanity now fighting for its very survival, the last 50,000-ish known humans left. And being attacked 33 minutes after each FTL jump. Hence the first episode being called '33'
