That's a funny way of spelling Maldini![]()
I'd have him centre-half if anything, but I'd want the pace of the left full-back in the modern game, and it'd allow Maradona to cut inside. Same with Cafu.
Maldini over Baresi or Ramos could easily be done like.
It's a toss up between him and Gullit as the best player I've ever watched in the flesh. He could do it all from what I remember. Incredible defender. Two footed. The ball skills of a midfielder. Leadership skills. Insane longevity. Plus he looks like a god, which is important. You could make a very strong case for him being the first name on any World XI teamsheet.
I'd pretty much select the same team as you, but I'd rather have Van Basten or Muller over Ronaldo (the tubby one). Not sure on some of the positions (Pele a midfielder, Cruyff a centre forward), and they've obviously kept Ronaldo and Messi apart deliberately. Here's my team though.
Buffon
Zanetti (how the feck can they have Thuram, who is a centre back, and not The Tractor?)
Baresi
Desailly (on the basis that most of the defenders in their list are liberos, so you need a grock there)
Maldini
Matthaus (no way is he a defensive midfielder like, but hey ho)
Xavi
Pele
Messi
Ronaldo
Ronaldo
Both sadly hobbled by injuries.I'd pretty much select the same team as you, but I'd rather have Van Basten or Muller over Ronaldo (the tubby one).
I’d have Ashley Cole on that list, might not make my team but defiantly deserves to be on the list.Seriously though Marcelo?
