Baines

Where the **** has this unbudging 8million price tag, always touted in the media for Baines, come from? At least double, and that's generous still.

I genuinely consider Baines the best in the world in his position at the moment so this constant fee of £8m that is getting banded about, to me, is a MASSIVE insult to the player. Ridiculous.

Ask Chelsea for Cashley's going price, double/triple it and we're at Baines' value roughly.
One has expiring contract, is 30+ and in decline. One is the leading creator of chances from all of Europe's top leagues.

Ridiculous to expect or speculate in anything below 20+ really.

We tend to look at it as if we're the buyers when we value our players.

Things like age, resale value, experience and character don't neccesarily matter to the likely buyers of a player like Baines. If Man City, Chelsea or Madrid came in for him then they'd most likely pay whatever they needed to pay to beat rivals to his signature.

If more than one rich side was interested and we were willing to sell we'd be looking at a lot of money IMO.

He is the one player I wouldn't think of selling for a number of reasons:

Obviously his ability, best attacking full back around by a long distance
He 'gets' Everton, which is quite a rarity these days
You don't get huge sums for defenders generally - max 20m which, after replacing him with a lesser player would not give us the funds to improve the team generally
His appearance record, Mr reliable

If we we're forced to sell to raise funds, as much as I'd hate it then it'd have to be Fellaini. The sum we'd get for him would/should be enough to make a difference to the club..granted to the detriment of the team initially

Sad times that we're even discussing it

Not Sure if this was posted before.(From Sky Sports) Punters have been queuing up to lump money on Leighton Baines joining Manchester United in January, with Sky Bet now going odds-on (8/11) on the move being completed next month in the wake of fresh speculation linking the Everton left-back with the Red Devils.
