Baines

Once baines is fully fit, i think he'll play most games at left back. Also i think we should just let the three lads at CB fight it out for who plays. If you have a bad game your out an one of the others come in. Keeps them all on their toe's. An if baines gets injured, then lescott can fit right in.

I think all 3 now believe the position is their own, I think whoever is left out most often will be targetted by other clubs.

Its great to be in this position, I only wish we had this problem all over the pitch, unfortunately its the opposite in midfield, we only just have enough proper midfielders to cover 5 across the middle and with subs.

i dont think it would be a wise move to put jags out on the right... inthe midde it suits his style i think we could do with a more of an attackin RB niether HIBB / NEV dont fill this role ...i think if we had an attackin RB + LB( which we hav) it would go someway to compensating our lack of creavity in the midfield my own wish list would be

RIGHT BACK....BALL WINNER( in the middle who can play it simple)...ARTETA a chance inthe middle

we also need replacements in case we come across the situation we have now but i would like to see most of our money spent wisely in immediate areas

David Moyes has already stated that Baines will be Evertons left back for years to come so really its about Jags, because Yobo and Lescott will be the centre backs,Right back? personally I would prefer to buy a recognised one.this is not to say I dont rate Jags I want him as a a squad player if we are to improve its getting good players as squad players as well as first choice as we are paying the price at the moment for not having quality in reserve(y)

we need a real right back, for too long we've one who can 'just do a job, we need one who bombs down the line and doesnt put his crosses into row z....both hibbert & nevilles distribution sucks, if they can win a a ball, what is the point if they give it back str8 away, so 'training'jags up for right back wouldbe a crime in my eyes as he is exactly the same as neville and hibbert, good at winning the ball but cant pass for [Poor language removed]. baines should start at left back, he is a proper full back and we need an equivalent on the right, no more accommodating players please moyes.

I like Baines. I think he's got genuine quality and being a local lad means I respect him even more as I always thinks its useful to have a player in the team that understands the fans and the derbies etc.

His problem is his height. We are a small team and we lack stature in general so Moyes likes to have Yobo, Jags and Lescott at the back to give us extra height and aerial presence. The only way Moyes is going to get Baines in on a regular basis is if he buys a tall midfielder or right back. Someone's who's good in the air and can help out at set pieces. A right back in the mould of Lescott to be honest. Someone who's big and powerful and won't be beaten by the cross field ball.

If we get more height in the team then Baines will be a regular. I really hope he is next season because he is a classy fullback. He's got quality on the ball, he's quick and he gives us an outlet down the left hand side. We need as many ball players on the pitch as possible and having Baines there is the way to go next season.

perhaps the answer is in fact that we should play with wing backs.
let the cb's defend , freeing up the wing backs to bomb forward and getting width , allowing the midfeild the freedom to concentrate on breaking down play and offencive play.

actually i really like the look of both those line ups.
id rather have 5 defenders with 2 attacking (positive)than 5 midfeilders with 2 defending (negative).

I like these formations also, and with Cahill out Osman can fit into that central role pretty well.

today im looking at ...

..... and im thinking "how the bloody hell did this team not win a cup".
perhaps im just biased but both set ups look just as impressive as any arsenal chelsea livershit or utd line up.

that is the best everton lineup i could ever come up with in any season ive been a supporter.man , we have come far under moyes.

both formations look like they have an extra player (12 men) but they dont (ive checked lol).i see a defence which would be almost impossible to score against , a midfeild with a good passing game and a eye for goal , and a good 30 + goals a season attacking line.

it just goes to show that we do have a class first 11 that all of our better defenders can fit into (including baines)and that the only reason we havent won anything is the cover players must lack a bit.

id have a hard on for months if we see either formation this end of season.

id lov to see these teams giv it a go however the flip side to it is the 3 across the middle are lightweight in the tackle so that team could be under real big time pressure in games and yes it sounds gr8 that those 3 can pass a ball they all like to do similar jobs in wantin to get on the ball but i could see them gettin spanked if we didnt play well in that set up

future best left back in the prem and no1 england leftback very soon i think ..... should always play your best team nev yobo lescott baines.... no matter whos been playin good should always play your best team and thats the best defence we have at the min

i think baines is a good strong left back and will get a run in the team, also i would love to see the first free kick he takes for us , arteta not on top form with free kicks latley

Good shout, i , amongst others on here have been saying pretty much the same thing for a while now.

i noticed against Chelsea the set pieces were better than they had been for a while, Fernandes came very close twice.
