Baines / Rodwell

Shut up, man. Best RB this country has ever produced. If he'd gone to Poland/Ukraine we'd be in the semis right now.

England missed some boss pointing to be fair!

Could you imagine Phil being bossed around by Gary on the sideline? Reckon they'd lamp eachother!

I can't see the w/c being any different. England haven't got a crop of youngsters coming through which will take us up a notch. We will continue to be average until sport at grass roots and school level is taken more seriously. British kids would rather have a game on FIFA or Pro Evo than take a real ball out for a kick about.

Mceachran didn't get too many chances at swansea last season but when he was on the pitch he literally did jack **** except pass the ball about 5 yards to the left or right. I know that sort of thing is key to the way they play but i honestly don't know what sort of position he plays, no defensive spliting or long passes etc. Cleverley looks the bizz though

That is a parenting issue.

Kids football has changed, and is all about technical ability, touch and skill now.

Its the top level that needs to change, but they are impatient, and want the success now.

Attitude from England fans and Media NEEDS to change, players terrified of making a mistake, and young players get hounded if they don't play like Pele on their début.

I'd like to see a midfield three something along the lines of Wilshere, Barkley, Cleverley...players that are actually comfortable with the ball at their feet & an actual ability to play football.

Carrick, Jenas, Rodwell, Parker, McEachran, Barry...England can't afford to churn out such lifeless, uninventive central midfielders year on year.

We've seen Modric/Rakitic, Alonso/Xavi/Iniesta/Fabregas, Pirlo, Schweinsteiger/Khedeira, Fellaini, Moutinho play in these positions Internationally for the past month or so, and we as England fans are stuck watching a 1940's Spitfire Pilot hare himself about a bit "because it's the English way"? We need to drag ourselves out of the f*cking stone age and start teaching our kids how to play the bloody game.

I can agree with a majority of that certainly but it's not just a parenting issue although yes lazy parenting has got to take some accountability. British schools don't bother with P.E anymore either for the life of me I can't understand that and then in the next breath start saying kids are obese. We all know not all kids are good at sports but physical education is not just about that it's fitness and health, preparing kids to work as part of a team. All factors.

I am a firm believer in playing games to win, I know this is a point which has split opinion but there is nothing wrong with being winners taking part for fun is all well and good but everyone loves to win and it breeds a mental toughness which is sadly lacking in our youngsters because as British we have become to used to the PC brigade telling us winning doesn't matter, it does.

Yeah, I like Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, etc were all lifeless dull footballers.

It's about balance and being able to keep the ball.. The hit list there like Rodwell etc are all able to do that.

You can't have a load of attacking flair players, and you've got to have a balance that complement each other. Busquests is completely safety first, playing it simple for eg. Alonso, no matter how boss, has constantly been been criticised in Spain and Xavi etc steal his thunder but works in the team

Rodwell must be nowhere near getting into the England squad at the moment. He needs to get fit, get into the Everton team and perform consistently to prove he's got what it takes. He hasn't done that for a long time.
