Baines rejects a new contract

Well if the Mancs came in I might agree with you but we are talking about Sunderland- safety in the Prem at best where as we have europe and a chance of a decent league campaign. Like I said if he is true blue only one option.

Yeah I suppose your right. I think it all depends on how much wages each club would offer.

Really depends if moyes rates him at 6m or not.

If he wants him, we will get him, end of.

It would be very promising indeed to have rebuilt the left side, right wing and the back four in general. Baines would be a nice fit and I still think Vogel will be here before it is all said and done. Nothing too flashy and not a ton of money but s significant change in the overall complexion of an already good team (if aging a bit here and there). If we get Smtih and BT moves on (seeing hints that the rovers may be interested in addition to Boro) we'll have new blood on every line and a couple of academy kids to provide a cusion.

Baines might be a good utility type player but I certainly don't see him cracking the first team.

Depends on what we could get him for and I'm guessing Moyes, true to form, won't pay too much if we do get him.

the 6 mill price tag was banded around. that is at least 2 mill too much in my opinion. I have said elsewhere that it would be great to have him, but for the same price as Nugent???? not a chance.

Isnt he only 22? £6 million is a lot, but if we do spend that much at least we'll have a player who should be here for years to come.

4 million, i wouldnt pay more due to the fact that i feel we could bring in other players if we got Baines on a smaller fee then 6.

Wigan have made it clear that they'd prefer to keep him, and the price if he goes is at least 6 million. Like most, I think that's too high, but it really depends on how DM rates him - if he thinks Baines could be as good as Lescott in a decent team, he might go for it.

Moyes did say though that he had enough to make 1 good signing, lets say thats in the region of £8 million in this market, then that would mean the Baines would swallow up most of that. I dont think its likely he would spend the majority of it on a fairly unproven youngster. I hope not anyway.

I think he does I have said many times how good Leighton Baines is and its just extra that he is a true Blue. I don't agree he would be just a utility player though. I think he walks right in and Plays along side Lescott,Yobo & Neville/Jags. I still admire Valente and his ability but Baines is more tenancious and very pacy.

It up to him if he wants to come at this point. This would be a huge coup because if we get him our defense is sorted for some time. Well done Davey if this works out. I thought this was a lost cause.

I didnt realise he was that good, gotta be honest, I cant remember seeing him all that much. Well if he's that good then my minds at rest if we do spend £6 million on him.
