Baines is England's first choice

Back to England I don't think currently I'd name baines and Cole in a No.1 & 2 basis. Think there's games that would suit each of the better than the other.

You'd think it would suit baines but he seems to be over thinking things, the amount of times he puts his foot on the ball and tottaly kills momentum and has a look around instead of just bombing forward, yet oviedo was boss there, played like a winger and coleman too has hit a different level

Agree with that, Oviedo's goal at Old Trafford is a classic example, never in a million years would Baines have scored that, he'd have taken the ball to the byeline and tried a cross or just passed it backwards and killed the momentum
 
Hilarious that this coincides with the first real slump in his form over the last 4 years. Pretty much sums up England.

He just looks half a yard short for me at the moment.
 
His final ball has been terrible for a while now. Actually makes me cringe a bit everytime we are on telly and the commentator says 'poor delivery from Baines, most unlike him' or something similar, as he's not been on his game for a long while.
 
If Baines is No. 1 for England right now it sure as heck ain't based on this season's form.

I'd say Baines has been the biggest disappointment at Everton this season.
 
People are overreacting about Baines being poor this season.

He's still playing well.

Just not amazing like the last couple of seasons.
 
People need to stop over-reacting. Baines is just coming back from injury and getting used to not being our ONLY attacking threat. We were all jizzing over his free-kicks earlier in the season.
He will be England's left back from now until the end of Euro 2016 and our left-back for longer. He is one of the best, if not THE best left-back in Europe! Jesus!

hes not playing well lad lets be honest. should have cashed in on him. Could have got 16m for him I think

Shaw should be starting mate or someone else not Cole or Baines. You can take them with you but for stick them on the bench just for experience. I don't associate myself with England anyway tbh. Belgium or Spain do me just fine.

Shaw is a great developing talent don't get me wrong, but he doesn't have any experience at senior international level... One for our future deffo

Baines is still a better player
 
No doubt we'll still hear the old line "Baines is good going forward but I still think Cole has the edge defensively and he has that international experience."

It's almost as bad as "Everton are punching above their weight".
