hmmm...I think if Oviedo wasn't injured, Leighton might even not be our best left back

I agree. Baines has lost a yard and doesn't look anywhere near what he was going forward. We looked far more threatening down the left with Oviedo. That Southampton kid has a shot at making the lb position his own if he impresses in the next friendly. Ashley Cole has been incredibly naive not to look for a loan move to keep sharp as that will surely cost him.
Luke Shaw deserves to be in the squad for his performances.
Don’t like Cole as a person but fair play to him, he has always given his all in an England shirt which is far more than most can say.
Personally think when Hodgson was appointed he should have said that our goal was to do well in the 2016 Euros when the climate etc will be far more in our favour and so he was not going to put anyone in his team who is unlikely to make it to that competition. It would have given the younger players a chance to get regular playing time as a team rather than wheel out the players who have had their chance and not taken it.
Agree with you 100% but Hodgson is a dinosaur and will play a first XI loaded with dinosaurs. Brazil will not be a happy experience for England I think.
