Totally agree. Gerrard basically deserted his post and left Baines on his own. Don't know whether it was through my blue tinted specs but Gerrard seemed to have an unwillingness to even pass to Baines that night. I seem to remember that after the Germany game in 2010 it game to light that a German sports university had done a study on the England team and came to the conclusion that Gerrard was the weakest link due to his positioning and teamwork.

Yeah also the way the German team carved up England at the WC with quick counters was ample evidence of a) the effectiveness of that kind of analysis which some people still dismiss and b) the utter insanity of taking fantastic attacking LB's and setting up the midfield in such a fashion as to give them no cover if they go forward. We'd be better off with Baines playing LM.

yeah silly i understand cancelling the training camp but they should be with the squad as of yesterday for me ready for the warm ups. The point in pre tournament warm ups is to gel the squad so come june 11 they are firing. chelski [Poor language removed].
