Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

So our player grabs a handful of shirt that just so happens to have a bunch of dreds hanging in it and given a red for violent conduct.

So as they say , it evens out over the season we'll get a pen and the perpetraitor a red card the next time we have a player hauled to the ground , physically asaulted in the box.....right ?
But he didn’t. He grabbed a handful of hair.

I feel like it’s this way every season. An avalanche of decisions against us and nothing made of it by anyone outside of Everton yet, the odd occasion something goes in our favour (Tarky against RS last season) you never hear the kin last of it.

We definitely are refereed differently, or to a different standard for some reason. Some of the softest red cards and penalties you’ll ever see. Think the pen awarded against Keane at Brighton, Allan’s red against Newcastle. These incidents do not result in the same outcome for other teams, no way.

If you speak to any fan at any level of football they will say they get a load of bad decisions against them and the refs have it in for them.

Agreed, although I don't agree with the idea that it evens itself out over a season because often it doesn't.

But the wider point that does need looked at is how do we have such poor standards of officiating in this league. And how do we have so much inconsistency with similar decisions.

And after I dont know how many years, the PGMOL still haven't worked out how to use VAR properly.

Forget team affiliations and fan perceptions, officiating needs to be better and there is no reason it shouldn't be better with video replays.

The standard of officiating is of a poor standard.

Seems to be getting worse.

I think sometimes people take the evening out thing a bit too literally. Obviously it's unlikely that that the decisions will even out perfectly over 38 games, with the exact same amount of big decisions going for and against you, that would be quite the coincidence. The idea is just sometimes things go your way and sometimes things go against you, not that they will completely neutralise eachother every season. I've said in this thread before, we will naturally think that we consistently come off worse because we're biased, but you can guarantee that fans of other teams will think they've been hard done by against us with things that just don't even register in our minds.

If someone grabs a handful of my hair and pulls it I’d consider that violent.

No mate

THIS is Violent conduct.

The red card is for Violent conduct.

Maybe you should look the meaning of that up , maybe starting with HwangHee Chan on Armstrong .

I don't think Keane was a red card and I don't think Hwang was a red card either.

Watching the game at the time I never noticed the Hwang challenge it was only after the game In a WhatsApp group someone sent the clip. It looks bad but everything looks bad when played in slow motion.

Watch it again in real time and you notice nothing, like the hair pull. It looks way worse in slow motion

I'd happily and sensibly agree with that.

Hwangs challenge looks bad in real time as well as slowed down. He's raked his studs down his leg and then put pressure down on it. Absolutely nowhere near the ball.
Thats a red card.
