Bad ref decisions - for and against - season 2025/26

Agreed. That is the issue, the lack of consistency.
That kick on Barry'sfoot would be given anywherer else on the pitch other than the penalty box (and it would have been given there if the victim was a defender). The FA/FIFA/Whoever, need to make it official and state, in the rulebook, that there is a different set of criteria for fouls when it comes to awarding penalties.

I'm in the block directly behind the incident so had a good view and I didn't think it was anywhere near a pen at the game, I just thought it was Barry doing his usual rolling around (which I'm getting tired of) but having seen the incident again this morning I was fuming. It was a clear pen, the Arsenal defender just boots his leg.

VAR is there to pick up incidents the on field ref may have missed and failed to do it's job there. Scandalous. Never forgot the Michael Keane one at Brighton when he brushed the Brighton players foot whilst not even looking in that direction and a pen was awarded. The one last night was 100 times more a pen than that one.

God, I almost forgot about that Keane one which was scandalous and then they won it with an own goal in the injury time that was added on due to looking at the decision.

20/12/5 Everton 0 Arsenal 1

Spot on. I can understand the ref not giving it but no excuse for VAR not recommending an on field review. Then he would have had to give it.
More a VAR error than the ref - though he was poor anyway.

Considering they've come out and said there was "insignificant contact" to award a penalty when he got booted. Keggers merely said hello in passing, in comparison.

….Fulham just awarded a penalty similar to the one we were denied against Arsenal.

Forward gets his foot to the ball ahead of the clearing defender who makes contact with the attacker.

In his post-match interview, Moyes said he’ll be watching for similar incidents. He didn’t have to wait long.
Pen given in Mali game today for same thing

Carragher mentioned at half time, that Everton will be frustrated watching that as there was much more contact by Saliba on Barry

Clear dive by the Fulham player to compound the inconsistencies of VAR
