Away games - discuss.

Yeah, you weren't too far from me then and it was the same group of lads.
I remember West Brom away in the 10/11 season, think it was our last away, and I'm sure it was the same group of lads who were whining at people sitting down. The whole "Stand up, if you love the blues" came out and they were getting that irate they got kicked out, it was laughable actually haha.

I was there for that with my dad. First time I ever heard him use the word "****s" was at those muppets.

It's the other way round mate. The players are up for it, we're right in the game, the crowd will be buzzing. You can't manufacture an atmosphere by shouting at people to stand up.

Standing up, organising yourselves so that you congregate is not 'manufacturing' an atmosphere, it's using your common sense.

Agreed, although that will never happen. It's the people who are constantly moaning and bitching at fans who aren't standing up, even when the game is crap, who are trying to manufacture an atmosphere, and that doesn't work.

Standing up and congregating is only the first part of it.

Those who are standing then need to start off songs and join in with each other.

Can't believe what I'm reading. 'Standing doesn't create atmosphere' ' depends on player performance' 'we don't stand at arsenal'. The ****????

You try singing while sitting down, it's just stupid. Also this bull**** theory of how it depends on how we're playing... Biggest load of **** ever. Don't you's get it? We stand from start to finish at a few aways a season: city, west ham, Liverpool, arsenal, spurs, maybe villa and Utd. And yeah we do stand at Arsenal...

Also people in the GS don't stand up 'all game' like people are saying but they are up and down and tend to stay stood for a few minutes if say we're attacking a lot.

And it's an away game, standing is probably the best part of it.

Embarrassing to see everyone sitting down, if you're not gonna stand don't bother going.

I'm allowed my opinion and you're allowed yours, however stupid it might be. (I seen someone say above they'd sit just to be awkward for **** sake).

Get your tin hat on Ryan!

It comes up every month or so this topic, and I am on the standers side, but at away games I can see the sitters argument, ie, kids, height and the immobile. I just can't justify getting in their way.

Is there a way of choosing your seat at away games?

They do, that's the difference.

Come on, mate. Going the game isn't about jumping up and down, waving your striped scarf around and singing "I just can't get enough" whilst making [Poor language removed] gestures at the opposing club's family enclosure. Sure, standing may encourage a bit more singing, but people can do what they like. I find that the quiet supporters often follow the club more loyally and care more than those who've turned up for a song and dance.

Everton fan number 1 here. I'm in awe of you mate.

Standing / Sitting - neither mean you're a better fan. I'm not saying that.

It's just ****ing ridiculous travelling up and down the country to sit down the majority....

Sorry but don't you see the contradiction in those two statements?

As I posted above sometimes there are fans that cannot see at all if people stand in front of them. Are they not worthy? When a person hands over their hard earned they are not to know that they've bought a seat that is just behind a few 'proper' fans that want to stand all game.

Personally I love to stand and if there were proper standing areas I'd be there as a first choice for myself. But you have to think of others. I've seen times when folk won't sit down or berate others for not standing up/singing. That's the really embarrassing thing in my book.

The point of travelling up and down the country to away games is to go and watch the team and support them. Neither of which requires you to be stood up the whole game.

Biggest load of **** I've ever read.

Go and explain to the elderly to stand every game because otherwise they won't be able to sing like Charlotte church.
