I want to see Cleverley there a lot this season. See if he and Baines can get a lovely little short-quick-passes partnership.

Enjoying Kone atm though.

We have been linked with Cristian Tello previously, as well as Yarmelenko, Mertens, Ashley Young, Nolito and Barcelona prospect Munir El Haddadi,

So I guess it is a position we are looking to strengthen in,

Tello is possibly more or a right sided player, but could play left side, probably wont be available till the summer
Yarmelenko seems possible, but would cost a bit
Mertens best position is probably centrally or wide right
Ashley Young has Premier League experience and would probably fit in quickly, but will be on massive wages at Man U.
Nolito is 28, so would probably cost the most, I could only see us getting him if we sell
El Haddadi is a left sided player, but still very young, maybe more likely to come on loan

I think based on that the only player I could see us getting is El Haddadi on loan, unless Mirrallas is sold and we get McGeady or Pienaar off the wage bill

I find it amazing how highly thought of pienaar is by some of our fans

Now don't get me wrong he's technically a very good/clever player
But massively overrated IMO
He would score about 3 goals a season not sure about assists but I doubt he ever got double figures
Was slow lightweight constantly got bullied and hardly ever put a decent cross in
I know he wasn't an out an out winger but he did play wide

To some people as long as him and Baines did a few nice one twos it was happy days
Some people would be quite happy to see them 2 down our left when there 40

The guy was a bottler
Went to Dortmund and couldn't handle the pressure
Then left us for Spurs who at time were a champions league team and soon came back to us with his tail between his legs

Back to a team that at the time were happy to finish 7 and get beat in cup semi finals
His level sadly

Any chance of getting some of what you are on ,yes i adore the guy but I also realise that not all do but to almost write him off as rubbish
defies belief all I can say is get a bigger telly as you must have struggled to see

If we can continue the starting price of the Defensive Quinella, supplement the Attacking Quarter-Hinds with an enhanced program we can re-invest into the parts of the aging Central Trifecta to feed the Attacking Prime.

So, if we can alter the DQ in tune with the AQH, we can justify investment in the CT who will in turn source the AP. It's not chemistry folks.
Exactly took the words out of my mouth and we could replace the BS with some TIT(technically intelligent tosser) where tosser is a player who throws the ball in

Mertens plays predominantly wide-left and is very good at it. He's never really played on the right.

It's an interesting comparison with Mirallas and Andrei. The crucial difference (as you pinpointed) is that with Mirallas he is just so inconsistent and also i think when we had Kanchelskis as soon as he received the ball we were on our feet almost expecting something to happen.

Deulofeu's attitude about getting playing time + saying hes part of a young team and they all "expect" us to to be a top side goes a long way with me...i really cant speak highly enough of him on the right + his key difference with Mirallas is that he is still developing and highlights his unselfishness by saying he is there to assist Lukaku.

So, in my opinion and a slight tangent I think we need another Deulofeu but someone who is more direct in on goal (like Kancho) and can score consistently...at the moment we really can only bank on Lukaku for goals...

Very hard to find such a top player but if we could then i think we would see teams really become stretched when we attack and also they wouldnt be able to commit as many men forward.

Exciting to see which direction Martinez goes in.

So anyway, I'd take a Kanchelskis-type player all day long.

For me, and I'm probably wrong, Mirallas is an "Andrei-lite" sort of player. He's good, very good at times, but I feel we overrate him because he plays for us. If he upped his game a bit and lost the petulance, he'd actually be the player that some think he is.

But whereas you expected magical skill when AK got the ball (90% of the time), when Mirallas gets the ball, first you have to wait and see which Mirallas has turned up - the ace one or the I-might-be-a-pain-today one. Kanchelskis is one of the very very few of our post-80's players who could have walked into the '85 side - could you say that about Kev? I don't think so.

Deulofeu is starting to remind me of a bantamweight version of Kancheskis, and I like it. It's the speed and style at which he runs forward probably.

I think we should play Cleverley there and let him play the Pienaar role.

Not really a winger but a left sided central attacking midfielder. LAM in FIFA speak.

This, has a massive engine and tracks back well to cover Baines and allow Baines to venture forward. He is also a lot batter crosser than people give him credit for. Not a winger but offer a lot of other strengths.

Of the 'recently' linked players:

Mertens in the summer
Yarmolenko plays on the right
Inaki williams scouted
Breel Embolo scouted
Munir possible loan

Quite interesting to see Inaki has scored 6 goals in 10 games this season and equally as interesting that Munir may be available.

About signing 'younger players', this is something Deulofeu and Martinez have both commented on and clearly they wont all be as cheap as Deulofeu or as expensive as Lukaku but the upside in potential ability and value is really valuable to a club like ours.

Also it looks like they love playing together and of course it doesnt hurt our image!

I must have got confussed, I can see now that I read that he is right footed.

I'm not really a big fan of playing right footed players on the left wing, it means that they either;

  • check back inside to cross
  • Or never cross

Find where i said he was rubbish mate
Think you need to read both posts again
I said he was a very good player and technically great
But always felt he should have been better for us with the talent he had
Just some of our fans go overboard with our players
And make out they are superstars
I'm just putting my point across mate
It's all about opinions

The way some on here talk about the likes of pienaar arteta Cahill and a few other from
The last 10years like they are superstars
I must have missed the 2 league titles and FA cups

Christ we reached 1 final and didn't finish top 4 once
