Some of you do realise we we’re missing our best players?. DCL would of scored Rondon’s chance and this game would of been completely different.
Possibly would of scored it. What is a guarantee is we would off been more effective as an attacking unit. And considering we had chances in the game the outcome likely would of been us at least getting a point.

Its the same every season. No matter how our manager is, or who plus for us, we’re complete and utter rubbish, whilst we live in the same city as a group of fans who have never known football disappointment and now have a team that barely ever even drops a point.

The 15 lads we stuck out today cost 170m though mate. Did we just come up against a better team, who took their chance to score, and we wobbled a bit.

We missed our 1st team players today.

They did to us, what we did to Burnley on Monday night.

Capitalised on some poor defending to get one, and then momentum took over.

We shouldn't be saying this about the likes of Villa really, but when they've got Leon Bailey etc on the bench and we've got what we had it's always going to be a struggle.

A few injuries after just a few games in, and we're already down to the bare bones. Realistically, and if everyone was fit and available, the starting line-up was the sort you'd expect for the QPR game - but it's a big ask for such a side to get anything from a tricky away fixture like this. Only plus is that we have those players to come back, but all 3 goals were very poor ones to concede. Hopefully we can bounce back quickly, but today was one to forget.
All true, but we can't simply absolve the club of blame for being in this position. We were always going to get injuries but the squad is paper thin. Brands has been an unmitigated disaster at Everton. Benitez has an uphill battle ahead, in my view. Brands failing to get rid of Rodriguez if the manager wanted him out simply adds to the incompetence and dysfunction. We've had a solid start, but the squad is crumbling now and our season is likely to crumble with it before long.

Whats this whole 5 subs thing?

flash scoers.. says we made 4 each?

Villa subbed McGinn and it counted as a concussion injury, which is now considered a free substitute (to ensure clubs and players aren’t pressured to remain on the pitch if they aren’t able to do so)

If a team uses a concussion sub, the other team also gets an extra sub to use, to ensure there is no unfair advantage gained.

I thought we were ok first half, just ok nothing more, thought the substitution was wrong, not that Rondon went off but bringing Gomes on for him, having space on the bench and not including James is odd, I can't see that team changing much for the cup game either

Yup. had their luck with an OG coming so soon (like we had with Townsend's worldie happening so quickly).

Tweo gaols that close togehter ALWAYS rattle a team. We didnt have any quality to bring on to change it up either unfortunately.

Brands can take some responsibility for me letting us get to this stage of no quality in reserve.
