We visited the Capitol building a two weekends ago. It was under repair (not due to the insurrection apparently), but still it was great to see this iconic building and I had not seen it since the insurrection. And it was a bit weird to recollect that a bunch of cosplay democracy-hating thumbdicks who were rabble-roused by a corrupt traitor almost toppled our government based on a lie.
Some time later as we were walking down the street we saw a rather moving and peaceful protest about the conditions in Iran. It was weird to juxtapose that the USA government was almost toppled by low-life dumb, traitorous, losers who can't seem to understand the privilege they live under--so much privilege that they can assemble (and almost dismantle) the very system of government that protects them. And then you see a demonstration where people are protesting a system of government that is truly abhorrent and does everything possible to dismantle the right to assemble and protest, which includes shooting people on the spot and public hangings. Just crazy.
