This is the claim that I am the most skeptical of tbh.
He wouldn't be sitting in the front passenger seat, so that means he would have had to lunge over the drivers seat to get at the steering wheel, and to then grab at someone's throat at the same time...?
Not saying I don't believe her, but how it's described doesn't sound quite right. As you say, she wasn't there first hand, so maybe something has been lost in the detail?
Fwiw he wasn’t in the limo, he was in the presidential SUV, no idea if it has a barrier between driver and backseat. It is understandable, if he was behind the driver - the screen comes down, with his left tiny paw he grabs the driver's throat and with his right tiny paw he grabs the steering wheel. To prevent this is why every cop car in the US (or at least every one you see on TV or the movies) has a screen preventing someone in the back seat doing that to the driver.
No. Supreme Court is only there to weigh in on the Constitutionality of legislation that is passed. They don’t involve themselves in criminal or civil matters.Genuine question here for the American blues in here. In the event charges were brought against Trump or any of his cronies - after the awful things we’ve seen with the overturning of Roe V Wade, the overturning of charges against Snyder about the Flint Michigan water scandal, and gun laws in NY - could the Supreme Court meddle or force charges to be dropped?
Ahh okay, that makes more sense.No. Supreme Court is only there to weigh in on the Constitutionality of legislation that is passed. They don’t involve themselves in criminal or civil matters.
This
reminds me of this bit in Yes Prime Minister when Dorothy Wainwright wanted her offfice to be near the gents loo

As I understand it, Congressional committees can’t actually bring criminal charges and all of this is just a fact finding mission to have everything on the record and then let the DOJ do what they will with it. With that said, the DOJ notoriously doesn’t like to bring charges where they aren’t almost entirely certain they will get a conviction, so it feels like longshot that Trump ever faces any criminal charges for all this.Ahh okay, that makes more sense.
Are you on the same line of thinking as me that it’s unlikely they’ll bring charges, but are doing this to bar him from running for office again?
Yeah I agree with that really. It is crazy how he’s basically managed to gaslight a massive section of the population by opening Pandora’s box in regards to allowing literally white supremacy and far right conspiracies into the White House. As I understand it, Congressional committees can’t actually bring criminal charges and all of this is just a fact finding mission to have everything on the record and then let the DOJ do what they will with it. Even if they do prosecute him, I’m not sure what good it serves. He’s obviously as guilty as the day is long, but his supporters refuse to accept any facts. If he is somehow convicted and barred from seeking another term, I feel like it only increases the likelihood we see violence from them. They already see the people who have been convicted of crimes that day as political prisoners, and the woman who was killed as a martyr, so imagine the reaction if their cult leader was actually found guilty.
It’s just all so damn frustrating and depressing to see people I’ve known my entire life to be decent and smart people that have been absolutely had by this two-bit conman. In all honesty, the best thing that could possibly happen to this country would be for the almost 80 years of terrible diet and no exercise to finally catch up with him sometime in the next 18 months.
