My main worry wasn't the set pieces. It was the ease at which they chipped a diagonal pass over his head and let Arsenal get in around the back. His positional play was awful.

We are so poor on the ball, all we have is him looping the ball into the box from no angle whenever we get a free-kick in their half. Can't we at least try and work it wider so we can sling it in from a bit more width? It shouldn't be that hard for a PL team to be able to orchestrate a better crossing position. And anyway, it's not like his dead-ball delivery is so great. 75% of the time their keeper just catches his crosses anyway.

Given our financial position and how well he played last year for Villa then signing him was a smart move. He's a capable stand in. Shouldn't be anywhere near set pieces though.
