Stats in general and especially one like this can be misleading. Not only will Williams have had to deal with more (which if Stones put himself about like he should have he would have challenged for around the same and we'd not have conceded as much from aerial balls) but his physicallity means that unlike John he can put the person he's jumping against off their touch. To me there is no area in which John is a better defender other than the fact he fits in better in sides that mandate a short passing game and complete composure on the field. I honestly think if he went to a large Spanish side it would have done his career a lot more good than going to City.
