Arteta future in doubt?

everton has plenty of internationals..so it's just BS...he is not going anywhere
if he does..then we need arshavan

Mikel's been poor but not all season - in our early European games I saw him being the Tater we love - comfy on the ball, keeping defenders guessing about where he'll pass it etc.

His problem recently has been that he's clearly not fit. Seems that he needs a prolonged rest to fix his groin/stomach muscle problem.

Which leads me to a more genreal point about players being sent out to play when not fully recovered from injury or fit. Surely this risks the players long term future and is ultimately unfair to the the team, the club and the player. Tim Cahill is the current example - was he sent back too quickly?

Mikel's been playing much of the recent months either in pain or with injections - I would have thought that Moyes would have been more cautious with his prized assets

I don't know if you noticed but he has missed a few games, his hernia has stopped him this term. This is one of those cases for Moyes someone thinks he's wrong no matter what he does, with out thin squad I think Moyes has got it right

He wouldn't be in the Spain Squad no matter who he played for, he isn't good enough. Fabregas isn't guaranteed a starting spot for Spain, and they have a few midfielders who are a lot better than Mikel.

That is exactly my point. He' not good enough for Spain, just about good enough for us this season. Sell him whilst we can.
We all worship him as we all needed an idol since Duncan reteird. Im I right in sayin we nearly all picked Mikel as our idol?

He plays a brand of football we have not seen since the days before I started goin the game (90-91), the only other is Limpar imho.
As Evertonians, we cry out for heros, idols, leaders. Players we can shout out to the top of our voices, players that makes us proud to be an Evertonian.

Mikel is one of them that we picked up on during the Davey Moyes early years of his Revolution. But this season its just not happened. I think he's played more or less to the same standerd, its just that there are now 3 or 4 other heros, idols leaders on the same pitch and our eyes are not just on him anymore waiting for a little flick here or there.

Mikel, I love you, but sometimes its just best to move on.

He stays. he knows where his bread is buttered. All footballers want to be part of a revelation. There is a revelation going on a Goodison(and the pessimists cannot argue that fact)

The best little Spaniard I know

i can't beleive what i read on this forum sometimes?
Arteta playing [Poor language removed], manny is rubbish get rid, we need 4 carsleys in midfield he is the best?

If as you say arteta is playing [Poor language removed] from what i watch week in week out he is still a cut above the rest.

Some Evertonians are really clueless.

Arteta is the most talented player in our current starting eleven. Technically he's also one of our better players and only Fernandes can rival him for that. Osman and Pienaar aren't a patch on him in terms of passing ability, vision, skill, dribbling ability and technique.

Despite his poor season he's still our second most creative player and has chipped in with a few goals. I think he's got around 9/10 assists and 4 goals. Only Pienaar can better that in the current squad.

Lots of good players have average seasons and then come bouncing back. Gerrard had an average season by his own standards last season and now look at him 19 goals and numerous assists. Thats what I think Mikel is going through. He's been excellent for 2 and a half seasons and is having a dip in form. I believe with even better players around him next season he'll be back to his best once he recuperates from his injury and comes back fresh.

He is good enough for the Spanish squad. I have no doubts about that. His problem is Aragones a manager who keeps from a small pool of players. Once Aragones leaves after the Euro's then I expect Arteta to get the call up as do alot of Spaniards. I have no doubts he's a better and more rounded player than Xabi Alonso. Alonso hasn't been good for ages and even Arteta in average form is better than Alonso at this moment in time. Hell even Luis Garcia was getting is the Spanish squad not so long ago. Aragones has a small pool of players he picks from and those players either ply there trade in Spain or in Europe's top clubs.

Selling Arteta would be a huge step back. When players look at our squad before joining us I'm pretty sure a player like Arteta is someone they are attracted to playing with. I'm sure Yakubu and Johnson both mentioned him before joining the club.

Class player who's having a dip in form. It happens to players whether there average, good or even world class.

But isnt that simply what most are putting across here? That Arteta is our best player but not playing at his current level? So how does that make us all clueless?

People who are saying "That Arteta is our best player but not playing at his current level" are spot on. People who are saying get rid of him are clueless in my opinion.

i agree we need to get rid of the rubbish we have in our team.

i hate the way some of our players try and play football
get rid of fernandes, arteta, pienaar and bring in robbie saveage to play in midfield with carsley and neville!!! cos we all love players who run around tackling, who needs ball players not us were everton!!!!!!!

and while we're at it let's put up a statue for Brett Angell he was a [Poor language removed] monster of a player.
