Arteta for England

Exactly. You need to be English to play for England. Otherwise for me it devalues the point of Internationals. You may as well transfer players around to different countries, and then smaller countries who have superstars will end up playing for France - oh they already did didn't they? - Vieria, Desailly, Trezeguet, and so on... They must have been seething over Higuain.

Vieira and Desailly grew up in France to be fair.

I'm a huge England follower and can honestly say I do not want our Arteta playing for England...he is way too good for England, and does not need to waste his time with gerrard etc...bunch of numps.

I'm not a big fan of this. It's ok if you were born somewhere else but grew up in said country. It can even be argued that if your parents are from another country and you grew up in that culture you might feel a certain draw towards that country (although I hate the fact the Giuseppe Rossi chose Italy - the dude was born and raised in New Jersey. He's American, end of discussion). But just simply playing long enough in another country to qualify to play - not having it.

Nah he's Spanish. Its different when people have been raised in England but he hasn't. But tbh it annoys me that people can chop and change countrys. Like how can one Boateng play for Germany and the other play for Ghana? And I'd be a bit 'wtf' about someone with a name like Agbonlahor in an England shirt, it just looks and sounds silly even though the lad is English (I think)

Born in Birmingham from a scottish mother.

Many of the France team that won the World Cup where from former colonial parts of Africa or 1st or second generation.

Doesnt really matter like, isnt Owen Hargreaves Canadian or something, and wasnt John Barnes Jamacian.

Arteta is Irish anyway.
