As i said mate this is the best game ive seen him, i would nearly go so far as to say that is the best individual performence of the tournament so far. I have to say i wasnt to keen on signing him on what i had seen from him up untill tonight. I agree hes not going to add tenacity to our game or be a tough tackling type but hes a match winner, i think he could play on either wing, behind the front 2/1, or up front. I think hes an ideal man to have in a 451 or 433 due to his versatility.

About his team play its noticable that he doesnt bust a gut to track back or close down, but on the attack without the ball he has a cleverness which creates space for other players which shows a great awareness and selflessness when hes not on the ball.

I guess he the type of player you want against Fiorentiha at home and not one you would want one - nil down to Fulham away. If that makes sense.

I agree mate. I'd definatly take him in a flash. He is a match winner and he contributes immensely in the final third. We'd be looking at something like this in my opionion:

-------Fernandes------Engelaar--------

Arteta-----------Cahill----------Arshavin

Obviously the defensive midfielder could be anyone. In just put Engelaar in there as an example. I think that midfield would be excellent. A good mix of power, tenacity, pace, technique and passing ability.

I'm not sure if Huddlestone and Fernandes would work unless where at home against lesser teams.

Don't get me wrong both are quality players but there strengths are on the ball. Neither have any defensive qualities. Huddelstone despite his size is a liability when the opposition have the ball. He lacks agility and pace, doesn't tackle and isn't a hardworker.

I think you need to get the right blend of grit and techique so realistically It would have to be Fernandes or Huddlestone alongside a ball winner or a more defensive minded player.

If Engelaar doesn't fit the bill them someone else. Maybe Alou Diarra.

I cant decide on who i would like to get in Def central midfield, the best i have seen in the past year is Tymosheik at Zenit as well, but i dont think we would go for him or get him for a number of reasons.

I think Ashavein, Arteta and Cahill could offer us great varience and options in terms of the squad.

I think Arteta and Ashavein both have the ability to switch flanks to bambozzle full back during a game, while i think Cahill and Arshavein would be great support strikers coming form deep to support the Yak in a more 433 then the 451 we have been used to. While in terms of tactical options Cahill could go of and ashavein could go in behid the Yak in that role.

I also think Ashaevien pace, vision, touch, awareness and passing range would do wonders for our counterattacking play in terms of speed form back to front.

By the time the season starts, the only player that will probably be in our team will be cahill....:(:(

Im pist off.

Arteta isn't leaving. I'm very confident he'll stay.

Fernandes could be here. Moyes rates him highly and it all depends on the price. If we went in for him I'm sure he'd be willing to stay.

Arshavin might not be here but he's certainly not out of reach. He'd certainly consider us.

Cant see Spurs going for him as theyve just signed Da Santos and id fancy our chances against the barcodes and City. (y)

What worried me tonight is that he looks distinctly like a player that Arsenal would be intrested in.

* As if we werent paranoid enough!

Spurs don't need him. They have Modric, Dos Santos, Lennon and Malbranque who can all play in his position.

We may not get him but he's by no means out of our League like some people think. Where an up and coming club and the pull of the Premier League is a big factor nowadays. Plus we can offer European football.

I couldn't see Arsenal looking at him. I think he's too old for them. City and Newcaslte will definatly be interested and I don't see why we can't compete with them.

Because we wont match them for the fee an wages!!

Infact we wont even go close.

Hate to be a pessimist but if we wanted to sign someone like Arshavein it had to be before the Euros started. Now it's certain a richer club will outbid us either for transfer fee or wages. The fact that we've signed nobody and Moyes contract is on the table makes me think we are not in a position to spend yet. If so, it will be a summer of rumour and disappointment. Hope we don't end up with Stephen Hunt instead of AA.

We may as well pack it in then and give up. If we can't attract or even compete for players like Arshavin then we seriously lack ambition as a club. Personally I don't agree with that. We are an up and coming club, we offer Europe and the chance to play in the best league in the world, we have a good manager and we have the good core of young, hungry players.

We are an attractive club to come to and players like Arshavin would definatly consider us. Money isn’t anything and we could easily pay 10-12 million for him and pay him 40-50 grand a week. He plays in the Russian League, he’s never tested himself outside of quite a poor League and I’m sure he’d like to join a club around 5th to 8th in England.

He’s not world class, he’s 27 and he’s in our range. If Moyes wants him then I’m sure we’ll have a go at getting him. Unlike Man city and Newcastle we also offer stability.

Evertonian’s are too negative in my opinion. So you think we won’t attract any good players and the likes of Arteta will leave. Why?

I thought he wasn in and out to be honest. I've definatly seen him have better games. He was involved in Russia best attacks but he wasn't always involved in there general play.

Personally I don't think he's a player who's going to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and dictate. He seems to be one of those players that drifts in and out of games and gives you alot in the final third and around the box.
He's definatly a quality player, in his prime and in our interchangable fluid 4-5-1 system he'd fit perfectly on the left hand side in my opinion.

so what is that last piecie in the puzzle we need?

I see where you are going with this but 1 good performance like tonight and it could be a choice of 40-50K at Everton or Milan/Arsenal/Bayern. If that choice is given , we lose sad to say. We have to get in ahead of the bigger clubs , waiting til end of June makes no sense.
