Arsenal vs Everton

I still don't think he'll be worth 15 million though in his career.

i dont know about that. he is only 20 and wont peak for years.
today he was an immense beast.

at times arsenal just could not handle him.
im not sure why but he reminds me of an old style 60's argentina player.

his running back is a bit ploddy mind.

i think he has every chance of becoming a classic everton player.

He's not a 15 million pound player, I think we all know that.

He is talented though, he can be very useful. It's a shame he's come into a club that is a shambles it the moment, it isn't helping.

That'll be the haircut.

LOL. Reading some of these posts has honestly suprised me..

By the way Graham Sharp made it sound on the City commentary, Fellaini was having a stinker. Certainly Sharp thought that he a) clearly wasn't working hard enough (apparently he just strolled around the pitch for most of the game), and b) was barely even attempting to win the ball in the air.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Have not seen any of the game yet - but when Moyes was interviewed on Sky after the game he was full of praise for the lad. Apparently the knock he took that is mentioned earlier in this thread gave him the old dead leg thing and that is why he faded and came off in the second half.

General opinion appears to be more positive than negative from what I have heard(y)(y)

I thought he looked pretty good but he got winded late in the game from all the running he did. He broke free a few times by himself behind the defense. Yak had no help all day, Fellaini stayed up a few times

You and me both, but I guess we all have our own opinions (and varying degrees of expertise in Premiership Manager computer games...)

Fellaini played OK, I thought. His first touch isn't as good as it could be going forward and he still occasionally thinks he's playing on the Continent and has all the time in the world. But I think both those will change. His height makes a big difference when he is going for stuff in the air though, and he was using his body size and strength very well in tussles today (the bit before the Hibbo incident was particularly interesting). And on occasion (far less today) he doesn't seem to want to challenge in the air (which I can see might have pissed off Sharpy).

Rodwell didn't look out of place in the side one bit in what was pretty much a test of fire.

Arteta, for those that just concentrate on what people are doing when they have the ball, wasn't just attacking but was working extremely hard on the right to ensure that the Arsenal attack was being bottled up down that side and, for more time than I thought, our tactics on both wings worked well (in fact, it was the introduction of Walcott that I thought was game-changing, plus we started to tire with the high-pressure stuff).

We had our chances; we led for a half; no, I'm not happy about the loss, but I was half-expecting worse; and yes, I agree with DM that I saw some things today that were promising compared to the previous games (in fact, I was pretty impressed by our first half).

Rodwell is going to be a very good player, a big plus point today. He has a bit of everything. Composure, strength and pace. Very happy to see him doing well.

This season doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment, maybe we should use him more. Put Neville at right back and just see how it goes.

fellaini really has to buck up, he looks a great big yard dog.

yakubu cant play up front on his own, no two ways about it.

arteta none existant again.

howard needs to [Poor language removed] catch some crosses instead of punching.

lescott and jags combined need to learn how to defend together, too many times the long ball over the top ( especially in the first half) found an arsenal player latching on and getting in behind.

osman (okay he scored) runs round like a headless chicken.

pienaar is our best player and just doesn't see enough of the ball.

hibbert had one of his better games but get him over halfway and kiss goodbye to any counter-attack.

baines, not great, not bad

despite all this, we were away against arsenal and I didn't expect anything less, roll on Bolton I say!

I've got to say I disagree with alot of your post. Fellaini looked good to me and Howard did nothing wrong.

Yakubu scored 21 goals playing upfront on his own last season.

Agree with most of what you except Fellaini and Jags. Fellaini is still adapting, but you can see the talent. His passing is good, he does the simple stuff great and boy can he head a ball. Having watch extended highlights of Belgium - Spain in midweek it was clear to see that we have bought one hell of a player - he has it all!
Jags is playing with his heart on his sleeve and his handling of Adebeyor was good, it was once again Lescott that let us down in defense.

Where's the MOM thread? Fellaini had his best Everton game yet. Always said and still believe he's going to prove a great acquasition for Everton. Also thought Tim Howard had a good game and Lescott was close to his best form. Best player for me (once again), Jagielka though. Especially first half, when Arsenal were playing the long ball up to Adebayor. Jagielka won that contest hands down.

i thought today we saw the good old everton of old. for a good chunk of the game we were right in there. if lescot had not found the arsenal man on the line or yak had not been wrongly flagged offside the nwe would have won today.

yakubu was up top last season by himself so i don't know what you are talking about there.

fellaini today gave me encouragement. i think he will be a good player for us. he should have come off at half time though as that was a nasty challenge he fielded and he might be be injured next game.

howard made some top draw tops today. their second goal he made a world class save in the move.

lescott and jags in the first half as you point out were dealing with everything. hence the clean sheet. looks good to me.

ossie got stuck in all game and scored.

so i think aside from the score.... this was a different everton we have seen so far this season.
