But his hold up and link up play is excellent.
So he clearly does offer us something, even if he hasn't been scoring goals.

Exactly. Keeps the ball well and drives forward with it. Defenders hate power, they hate pace and they hate good dribblers. Kone has all of that.

His finishing might improve with a bit more game time. The important thing is that he doesn't seem too affected by missing, a la Jelavic.

This is it. Martinez obviously likes a striker to come short and link the play. This isn't Lukaku's strength. He needs to be on the shoulder. if Kone playing allows for Lukaku to clear his head of trying to be a "false 9" and focus on being on the last man, and getting in the box as often as possible for crosses than Kone will be worth his weight in gold.

Sometimes in teams you have star men and match winners and you fit other pieces of the jigsaw to get the best out of them. Lukaku is a top class striker and our other players jobs are to get the best from him. I think Kone may be the best at that.

It was a stark contrast to Naismith, God love him. He brings the worst out of Rom in my opinion.

Still fully expect Naismith to reclaim his first XI spot immediately though. I'm conflicted on that anyway, as I do individually like Naismith and what he brings, but it's more what someone else in his position could bring that he doesn't, that annoys me.

I will judge it when we face a stronger team or a team who will perform better than Newcastle did - The 3-0 score line imo was a little flattering, but at this moment in time I would take any win any how!
we haven't been able to beat much weaker teams than newcastle this season too, and wins are scarce so i will take it.

Id give him a run. Seen some good stuff yest but his finishing and decison making are awful. Think a goal will be a big help
