I think it strange that Marco changed the team for every game. Surely it must be imperative for the players to get used to each other in the new system. Fair enough trying fringe players but it is obvious so many of them are not up to the standard required it should have been the clear first choices with 1-3 others vying for their places. We do not want another season like last.

I am worried because it was as clear as anything we needed defenders to improve the team and with a week and a half of the window left we haven't signed one and look like we are going in with Williams again. Shambles of a summer. That is without even looking at other areas of the side that need drastic improvement.

So basically the players have downed tools again on this new manager even before the season has started.

As regards the Rennes game you need to look at the back four, all should be out apart from Coleman and the look at the midfield - yuk. But I do not think Silva was concerned about the result per se but judging the players. (to see some of the crap he has inherited)

I don’t think it’s Silva’s fault. The players are proven dross. The only brand of football they can cope with is Allardyce’s so therefore any changes would expose them straight away. They need shipping out but that will take time. You can already see how much some have sat off once they’ve thought ‘new manager likes me I’m not going anywhere, deckchair out’

He’s had 5 games and god knows how many training sessions to judge them.

If he’s only making judgements now we’re in trouble.

..i’d never back against my team, I was just interested. Those odds could tumble after the Wolves game.
Thing is, we're going to lose that game. Wolves will be very up for it, especially moutinho. He's not going to do much this season, except tare us a new one.

The key will be people not losing their heads

Worrying signs been there for 3-4 weeks like I said in previous posts, worrying thing is silva was out of work second half the season

Another worrying sign is that no club with ambition was interested in Silva in those 6 months he was out of work. It's an international market out there, and some clubs had vacancies.

..I thought it was a difficult game when the fixtures came out but it’s an almost impossible one given our pre-season displays. Let’s hope we’re proved wrong.

People saying stuff like "this season is a write off"... "let Marco get settled" ... "this is a free one for him to build upon"...

Are you bloody mad?!

So we finished 8th last season had terrible cup runs once again and bombed out the Europa League and unsurprisingly were struggling to attract players. The lads at Barca seem to be waiting to see if anything else comes in... which is fair enough ... having a history of playing at PSG, Roma, Barca and then having Everton as your only opion, no wonder you'd want to make sure you've explored all the options.

Despite fans blinkered vision of Everton being the greatest club in the world (which we are, the rest are no marks, we're Everton FFS!) to footballers it doesn't work like that. Players, they play to win but they want to play to win at the club that gives them the best chance to win. Sure there is a handful of players who make a move because they want to play football but the most if they're given the choice of making 10 appearances for Man City and winning the league and a cup or playing 35 games for Everton, finishing 8th and going out before the quarter finals in cups.... Guess which one they'll pick.

So we'll give Marco a free hit... Get in 4 players in this summer and finish what? Imagine if it's 10th, 12th, 14th?!

Oh yeah that'll work great in the long term because next summer the likes of Pickford and Richarlison wouldn't be wanting to move. And of course we'll be able to attract even better players than the ones we'll get in this summer despite us finishing lower in the league... Just no. But it's okay we'll still be left with the absolute dross we have now.

So you want instant success? Even city couldn't pull that off.

Koeman, Allardyce and Silva are 3 complete different mangers with different styles. None of them have so far managed to get anything out of our current crop of players. That points to only one thing, and it's going to take multiple transfer windows to sort out

Seamus Coleman is refusing to read too much in Everton's pre-season performances just yet - although he did admit the display against Rennes “wasn't good enough”.

The Blues' preparations lurched to a second defeat in a matter of days as they lost 4-1 against Rennes yesterday following the 3-0 reverse at Blackburn Rovers less than 48 hours earlier.

Coleman says the onus is on the players to put Marco Silva's ideas into practice ahead of the opening game of the campaign against Wolves, on August 11, and so he was left disappointed by what they produced in France.

But the 29-year-old insists he remains “excited” about this season under Silva and is adamant it's too early to be drawing too many conclusions about the way the team have performed thus far.

“I don't think we should get carried away too early with negativity or whatever,” Coleman said.

“It's pre-season, he's getting to know us and we're getting to know the manager and I have to say that training has been great, his ideas have been good but we haven't taken that onto the pitch.

“Sometimes we need to look at the players, it always seems to be managers nowadays, but we need to look at ourselves and that wasn't good enough but we can't get carried away with too much negativity, it's still early days.

“I'm sure the manager will be busy, possibly, in the next couple of weeks to get his own type of players in and we need to make sure us lads who are out there, and in training, do all we can to impress him.

“But we're competitors at the end of the day so it was massively disappointing to lose 4-1 like that.”

He added: “I thought we did create a couple of things but I felt that when we gave it away, one or two passes and they were in on our goal. He wants us to win the ball back quicker and we didn't take that onto the pitch and it's something we need to look at.

“It's disappointing, we're not hiding away from it and nobody is making excuses because you don't want to be losing games in pre-season but we've got to be a little bit calm and take a step back and realise the Wolves game is all important.”

Everton went 2-0 down against Rennes but a goal from new-boy Richarlison halved the deficit.

However, the Ligue 1 side scored twice more after the break to leave the Blues with just one win from six friendly games.

Asked what the biggest change Silva was trying to implement, Coleman said: “Togetherness, a compact team, and everyone doing their job for the team.

“That's what Everton is all about, we can't carry anyone, we're not in the top four, we need to fight every game – home and away – so we need to make sure we're all together, we all need to understand wherever we've came from we're at Everton now and we need to work hard.

“The manager sees that and he is big on us being together on the pitch. Look, I'm excited for the season ahead and fingers crossed we can get a few fresh faces in because we need that competition for places.”

Seamus not worried.

I wasn’t worried until I read that, now I am bleeding worried.......

Allardyce actually got results and somehow had us 8th. Made good signings too.

I'll be worried if we don't sign any more players, this garbage has got danger all over it, a couple of good defenders and I'll feel a bit better, just still wondering where the goals are coming from, Sandro is a parody of a striker and Tosun just doesn't seem to be able to make a keeper move, hopefully he improves quickly
