Are we cursed as a club?

Not cursed but subjected to some very dodgy decisions - as is everyone else outside the Sky 6 - not allowed in Europe because someone else's fans rioted, having to play a qualifying round in the Champs league whilst the team that finished below us (and didn't actually qualify) got automatic entrance and were seeded!!!

This is pretty much as it is.

ie Arsenal have had a horrendous run of injuries this season , Top players too.

But as a well run club they plan for times like this to mitigate losses by having a squad able to cope in all eventualities.

I know there is a huge difference in both clubs finances but still think we missed a trick not strengthening as soon as the January window opened.

( I still have my doubts about our training and fitness methods at Finch Farm on those pitches tho ) not so much a curse but consistent bad planning from the club for me.
It's this. It's been an issue under various managers now. There were some stats a while back (pre Christmas) and whilst I don't think we get anymore injuries than any other clubs they showed the majority of ours do seem to occur in training. It would suggest that either there is an issue with the fitness/medical setup and whether the individuals involved are actually good enough or as has been mentioned by more than a few people that there is an issue with the facilities at Finch Farm. You need only look at DCL, we could not keep him fit for love nor money yet he has gone to Leeds and they are managing it just fine, is it just a case of they have better fitness/medical people than we do.

Some study posted on the BBC site (I know, I know) showed us with only 10 injuries ruling players out of PL games. Our trouble is twofold -- who's getting injured and the fact our squad depth is as shallow as piss on a plate.

Not sure picking up a couple of relatively minor injuries really counts as a curse to be honest. I doubt we get any more injuries than anyone else, it's just that we only ever have 3 or 4 good players at a time so when it's one of them it happens to it feels a lot worse than it does to better teams.

This, essentially. Even in the Moyes heyday we were short on overall quality back-to-front. There was always a weak link somewhere and few capable backups so a loss of Baines, Cahill, Dunc, Arteta, Pienaar, Yak, Jags, Felli etc would be a swift kick to the teeth.

We could easily have signed Grealish a fortnight ago for thirty million on a three year deal. If we had, we could now consider ourselves cursed… but as we didn’t, we can consider ourselves bloody lucky!

but defintey not bitter about it decades later or anything......

We're not cursed. If we were, we'd have beaten Sunderland in the cup only to lose Jack the week after... Imagine the devastation.

As it was, we were knocked out. Lucky for us.

Oh.
