Most of their history has been spent in the lower leagues and they have only one league title. Yes, they had one great team in the late 70s and won the old knockout European cup a couple of times but that doesn't make them a bigger club than Everton. Size of club is mainly about size of fanbase, built up over an entire history... Everton's fanbase is and has always been significantly larger than Forest's.

Obviously a wind up thread but Forest are one of those clubs who are often talked about as being far far "bigger" than they are.

Their European Cup wins distort their true size. Outstanding achievements which can't be denied but for almost their entire existence before and after they've been a poorly performing club.

Their fanbase highlights how they are only a medium-big sized club overall too. Never had great crowds compared to similar clubs.

Everton - bigger than Man Utd?
Villa - bigger than Citeh?
West Brom - the 11th biggest club in the land?

Not sure that table stands up to much scrutiny in the 'big club' stakes.

Think you are taking that the wrong way, it's just another measure that puts us with those ilk, whereas Forest are knocking around with the likes of Middlesbrough and Burnley.

Other factors that come into it are league titles, FA cups, size of fanbase, stadium size, average/record attendance. All of which are in our favour against Forest, but we lose against United - bar from record attendance that is.

Forest tip the scales to their side with league cups and the two European cups/1 super cup. Obviously that is a great but the European Cup was a lot easier to win back then and we were denied our chance to do, we could in theory be sat here with 2/3. A two year purple patch in the history of a football club doesn't make them giants of the game. League titles - Champions of your own country are what really count.

2 proper, meaningful European cups in their favour and a couple of other pots ... but no real consistency at the top, just a flash in the pan because of an outstanding, incomparable manager. So no, smaller than the Everton, who have not experienced the same extremes of major European success and years of lower division football.

The European cup was HARDER to win back then. For starters you had to WIN the league and be bone fide CHAMPIONS. Then you had to play other CHAMPIONS in a knock out format, that had no safety nets, nor any other means of protection if a key player was injured or suspended.

That league they have created today is just meaningless tv entertainment.
