Everton correspondent Phil Kirkbride profiles the eight newcomers aiming to make their senior Everton bows tonight.

Harry Charsley
Age: 21

Born: Wirral

Position: Midfield

Charsley is the most experienced of the outfield players in tonight's squad who are yet to make their debut at senior level.

The utility player has been with Everton since the age of nine and scored the goal which clinched the Premier League under-18s league title in 2014.

Charlsey, a Republic of Ireland U-21 international, was also the club's joint top scorer last season as the Blues won the Premier League 2 crown.

Usually deployed in midfield, but comfortable in a variety of positions, Charsley, contracted until 2019, is in line to play at full-back against Limassol.

Nathan Broadhead
Age: 19

Born: Bangor

Position: Forward

The highly-rated Broadhead is making all the right noises at Everton.

Top scorer as the Blues clinched the Dallas Cup last season, Broadhead also made his breakthrough at U-23s level and played a pivotal role in their title success.

Capped by Wales at U-19 level, Broadhead was rewarded with a new three-year deal last season.

Alex Denny
Age: 17

Born: Macclesfield

Position: Midfield

England youth international Denny has been with Everton since the age of 11 having joined the club from Manchester City.

A member of last season's Dallas Cup winning squad, Denny played for his country in the u-17s European Championship this summer, featuring in the final against Spain.

Fraser Hornby

Age: 18

Born: Northampton

Position: Striker

Everton could end up paying £1.3m for Hornby who joined from Northampton in 2014.

The highly-touted teenage striker is known for his aerial presence and has struck five times this season for the Blues' under-18s.

Hornby plays internationally for Scotland's youth teams.

Anthony Gordon

Age: 16

Born: Liverpool

Position: Attacking midfield

Exciting attacker Gordon has hit 12 goals for Everton's u-18s this season – including four in the 7-1 demolition of West Brom in August.

Handed a full-time contract in the summer, Gordon has been one of the stars of Everton's Academy campaign so far and scored the Blues' goal in their mini-derby defeat.

Michael Collins

Age: 17

Born: Manchester

Position: Defender

Collins was picked up by Everton whilst playing for Wirral Boys after his family moved to Wallasey 10 years ago.

He joined the Blues aged 14 and was converted from a striker into a left-sided centre-half.

Collins is an u-18s regular at Everton and although eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland and Jamaica it is expected he will make his England breakthrough soon.

Shayne Lavery
Age: 18

Born: Northern Ireland

Position: Striker

Lavery celebrates his 19 birthday on Friday and so will be hoping his Everton debut can provide an early present.

The speedy centre-forward joined Everton aged 16 having previously played at Portadown and Glenavon and has progressed to u-23s level this season.

Lavery came off the bench to score a late winner against Swansea City in October and has already been capped at u-21 level by his country.

Stephen Duke-McKenna

Born: Liverpool

Position: Winger

Duke-McKenna has become a regular with Everton's u-18s side having signed full-time terms with the club last summer.

A talened left winger, Duke-McKenna is eligible to play international football for Guyana, Holland, Republic of Ireland and England.

Really want to see Hornby get some minutes. He's got the physical package to succeed up top in the Prem and has been highly rated for a number of years now, injuries have slowed him I believe.

..it is a massive step up for some of these youngsters from being ring fenced in their own age group to playing against men. We’ve seen the U23s play in UEFA competition against teams who play in open age competition and we’ve struggled. If any can stand out it’s a big positive, and even if they don’t it’s an important part of their development.

According to the blueroom podcast, you need to be at the club for at least 2yrs with out a break away, Including loans. So that rules evans out as he was at morecambe last season
I saw something written by them and others disagreeing with it as its so complicated, I think they are wrong! My take is that Evans qualifies because he’s been with us for so long, irrespective of the loan period, in the same way Gordon hasn’t been a Scholar for two years but has been with us longer as they count the pre Scholar years. I believe that applies to Evans, and a further example Connolly was included despite him being on loan the last two seasons , so they must count his early years. Makes sense to me ..... but I may be wrong :D
