Anyone else very excited at the prospect of us relegating Spurs?

Never in my life have I heard that..

That is pretty strange..
Are you sure they are fans of the club, or just fans of an away day out..
It's definitely a thing. I wouldn't necessarily go as far as saying I know people who like being relegated, but there are fairly obviously different levels to these things and some clubs see seasons in the PL as a bit of a bonus where they're fully aware they'll eventually run out of road and go down, it's a different attitude to that of clubs like Everton and Spurs where fans are still hoping for a return to the top table and relegation is almost unthinkable. It also makes a difference if you have a monolithic neighbour who are doing trophy winning parades past your house while you're crying into your cornflakes.

Not for me, I have an inherent dislike of that club, but having been through it enough times ourselves it should really be a case of there but for the grace of (who ever) go we.

A relegation is not something I would wish on any club (bar Satan's children over the road obviously) and the fact that someone else (BIG) is now facing the prospect is not an exucse for blues to gloat - karma is a bitch remember.

There's been a few similarly themed threads on here recently about spurs plight; it doesn't sit right with me. So we're ok this season - great, but who knows what will happen next year.

Leave them alone and let them get on with it I say; we're bigger than that.
They’re only getting relegated for a season. It’s not like they’re all going to die or anything

I can. I know supporters of other teams who like being relegated, I don't know any blues who would like to go down.
You'd have to be a moron to want to see your team relegated. That's just what some people tell themselves to feel better when their team going down looks dead certain. They justify it with silly soundbites but they then spend the whole of the following season desperately hoping to get back up to the division they got relegated from!

Swoop in and sign some of their kids.

Mason Melia please.

I'm surprised this doesn't seem to often happen.

A lot of people not looking at the bigger picture here. Spurs are a problem club because they are a 'big 6 club.' All Evertonians should desperately want them down if they have any ambition of wanting to see us progress long term. The reason is that Spurs are a club who in the current rules are allowed to spend nearly 3 times what we are allowed to spend.

That means that by the law of averages they will always come ahead of us long term. The only one thing that can really change that and break the 'big 6' monopoly is one of those clubs getting relegated. We should all want that to happen without doubt, if you dont then you really dont understand the ethics of the premier league correctly.

Precisely ;)

Spurs are a rival of ours and could easily drop £200mil in the summer and bounce back to top 7.

Forest also similar with their dodgy owner.

West Ham pose little threat.

We should want to send them down in that order.

There are a fair few people who prefer the championship to the premier League

I would love it. Wasn't that long ago they thought they were too good for the premier league and wanted to break away. I love Karma sometimes.

They say that to make themselves feel better about the fact that they can't survive in the PL. Its like a fella getting the knock back from a bird in town and going full on denial and saying "yeah well I didn't fancy her anyway!". Go ask any team that's been stuck down in the championship for an extended time if they prefer being there and would be disappointed to leave via promotion.

The main thing for me is that Everton turn up and play to win regardless of whether a European place is at stake or not.

Every relegation deciding game we have been involved in since 1994 has seen our opponents, and teams playing our relegation rivals, make a proper game of it.

Chelsea in 94 and 98 are prime examples plus Wimbledon,Coventry,Palace and Bournemouth all played to win against us.

We need to do the same even if it means we send a team down…we did it to Sunderland in the 70s at Goodison when the game was played on a Thursday night(a novelty then!) as the FA Cup final was on Saturday and that was traditionally the last game of football season.

I just hope that we've got something to play for going into the Spurs game ( although it would be wonderful to have already qualified for Europe and then condemn them to the drop).

Forest cant spend 200 million they are on the brink of ffp. Spurs certainly can though

Were you at the game against Sunderland and did the result hinge on them staying up or not? And did bob latchford score?

Only interested in what the win would do for us. After spending multiple years in these sorts of relegation scraps we know how horrible it is for normal fans. It wasn’t Spurs fans who wanted the super league, it was their club.

There really needs to be discernment between the divvies that appear on fan media channels and the actual fans who support clubs, they’re not always representative.

Know a few Sheff U fans who claim to like getting relegated from prem, no var, actually see them win etc, thinks it’s to trick themselves into it not hurting as much personally + they all seemed gutted not to win the play off final.

I was at the game with my Dad standing in the Paddock.

Sunderland fans took over the Park End and gave great support(a real cup tie atmosphere) but we were comfortable winners with goals from Latchford and Rioch.

I think they needed to win to guarantee staying up but the Coventry vs Bristol City game had their 2 rivals playing each other. Their game kicked off 10 minutes late due to alleged crowd congestion and the Sunderland result was announced by Jimmy Hill at Coventry’s game(drawing 2-2 I think) and they played out a draw in the final 10 minutes in the manner of Germany vs Austria in the 1982 World Cup…a draw being sufficient for both of them.
