Is there additional ffp benefits for the fact he is homegrown?

He doesn't carry a book value because he wasn't signed for a fee. So the entire fee is a profit in the books.

Selling academy players is always better for accounts purposes, than selling someone who came for a large fee. You write off someone's value over the length of their contract (i..e £10m player on 5 year deal, is written off at £2m per year).
 

Can I be honest? I'm deligted. Genuinely. Even under Lampard where you had players becoming a bit more likeable and all that I always thought even in the behind the scenes stuff that Gordon came off as a knobhead with an ego. Obviously is an utter no-mark on the pitch too so £40m is unreal for us. Easily the best sale in our history I would say, given the fee and the fact the team is not worsened basically at all.

Best business we’ve done that I can think of!
Hopefully he does not become club legend that we buy back in 15 years on high wages and reminisce of his glorious early years
