Andrei Kanchelskis appreciation thread

I am sorry to have given the wrong opinion about Beardsley, I think that even though he played for the RS, he was a real player.
Kanchelskis was very similar to Radzinski ....a headless chicken. Anything good from Kanch was done at Man U.

Yeah, the 16 goals in 32 matches and the single hand destruction of teams puts him in the same category as radzinski.

Carry on fella

When I was 10 in the Goodison Road stand with my Dad, the best player on the pitch for me was Dave Hickson by a country mile, the crowd
then was every bit as loud in 1956 as it was in 1996. Maybe in 30 years time you will listen to Kanch and have a tear in your remembrance
eye for him, the way I do for Dirty Dave now. But what I do know is Dave Hickson will be in my top 5 Everton players that I love, and maybe
in my top 100 Everton players. I also loved Duncan McMagic (Would you believe) Absolutely brilliant on the eye and I don't think there was just me that loved him. But I also knew his weaknesses. Really good footballers (Even in a mayhem situation) will make time to look-up before
crossing or passing, the only feet Kanchelskis could ever see, were his own.
I think it is all a matter of perspective, lots of guys on here idolise Duncan Ferguson, who I thought was a shitehawk of the highest order, but that is cool! My recollection of Kanchelskis is that we was poor as a winger, but then I always thought of him as an attacking midfielder, rather than a traditional winger? Duncan McKenzie was a greedy swine, but he got you off your seat every time he ran with the ball, Andrew did the same at a time when nobody else was doing it for us! For that I will always be grateful to him!

Can't think why he signed for us? Maybe it was a roll of the dice,as we'd just won the cup. Maybe he saw us as a gamble that might pay off. But why would you leave Man Utd for Everton at that time, it's a mystery.

Peter Beardsley was awfully good you know.

Maybe not as good as Andrei, but he was good.

Beardsley is one of the most under rated footballers ever... he was class ... no coincidence that every striker he played with scored for fun. Lineker for England , rush , andy cole scored 40 in a season for Newcastle and never managed it at Man U... Ferdinand .. and Beardsley would always garantee at least 10 himself .

It was a weird one. In today's terms it was the equivalent of say De Bruyne or David Silva suddenly leaving ManC and coming here. It appeared ManU wanted rid of Kanchelskis for reasons other than his football ability. Why they got rid to us was another mystery.

Probably find out in the book.

I wish he had played for a top everton side, I have nothing but fond memories of a wonderfully gifted player, but at times for us he almost had to try and get on the end of his own passes

Super player one of the best I have seen live.Would ghost past defenders and stick in a cross or a lethal shot.

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever read on this forum.

Like comparing Gary Stevens to Paul Holmes.
