Its Andre bashing and I wont have it, not from any of you people.
Yes just like the DCL bashing pre season :p
TBH our problems yesterday was the right back position as who ever plays there faces two players the winger plus the overlapping full back do we sacafice Gomes for us to have two wingers who track back .....?
Crosses in to DCL were at a low premium missed one scored one .......
Klopp went down Coleman's side within 2 minutes we were 1-0 down .....tbh I would have signed Homes at half time and fetched Iwobi on then imo..
Our shape was wrong v a team who use their full backs plus wide players to bomb forward ........

I don't think Coleman was fully fit.

His role seems hugely important to how Carlo wants us playing.

I think yesterday he was too ponderous when the pace of the first few minutes should have told him he needed to think quicker and be more aware of who was around him when receiving the ball. I think he has done the role very well in other games

when I thought of the options on the bench for him though, I was happy that Carlo left him in as long as he did.

however, if this role is as crucial to us as it seems I think he will need to be a bit more consistent this season to stop us targeting a new signing there

I think Allan is brilliant mate, but he's not as good as a fully raring Fabinho in a holding midfield role. Apples and oranges a bit as his best role is probably box-to-box.

Henderson is excellent in their system. He was very good yesterday and outplayed Doucoure and Gomes - his pressing being the key there.

Yep, take on board all of your points but they do have a quality team. So do we though and we did show that at times. Just our best play came when we got it forward quickly into James, who is our one real world class player. But the fact we have a world class player could make all the difference.
Yeah I'm not disputing their quality mate. I'm just disagreeing with your assessment that each of their midfielders that started the game yesterday were individually better than ours. They have two of the best wide attackers in world football who dovetail brilliantly with a very clever and unselfish centre forward. two fantastic attacking full backs, possibly the best keeper in the world and arguably the best central defender around. Thiago is also class as I said. But overall I think their midfield is probably their weakest link. Having said that they are still strong there compared to most teams. I don't rate Fabinho as good as Allan but that's an opinion. I think our midfield 3, when fit and in shape, is our strongest department and will only get better as they work more together.

The RS were on blob yesterday and our midfield was off colour for the reasons I mentioned. They came into this game playing their normal game. we came into this game with Carlo having practically zero time to practice tactically how to set up to counter their pressing game.

I fully expect it to be different next time around, especially if they're coming into the game on the back of a difficult away European game.

Ive said repeatedly, not many of our players cant be improved on, some would be harder than others, like Digne, but if we can improve on Andre Gomes, great and I'm all for it, I just don't buy into the "he's rubbish" shouts.

I admit that he's very inconsistent and yesterday he was quite terrible.

a big problem with his role is that even when he is doing it well like in some games this season, he won’t stand out hugely. In that way he is always only one poor game away from loads of fans thinking he has just generally been crap

Still starts every game for me right now.

If Tom Davis had played as bad as that .....the criticism would be far worse than on this thread.......Gomes was just far too slow yesterday, on his day he is wonderful.....

It is fair to say that we (I) would have crucified Davies had he played as bad as Gomez. That is just the way of things. Gomez is supposed to be and surely was at one time a very good player. Remember who we signed him from? Carlo needs to see what can be done with Gomez to bring back his undoubted talent. It is worrying really.
