I wonder what his own thoughts on his performance levels are, apart from the banal tweets he makes.
There is the injury, and his bad experience at Barcelona, and his obvious self-confidence issues as a result. Does he trade off those a little, even subconsciously?
I'm not advocating that he be publicly called out, but he certainly would have been at other clubs, and by other managers. Mourinho being the obvious example.

I've seen before in organisations where its easier not to ruffle feathers and so under-par performance just gets tolerated and accepted for years.
He owes us nothing directly, but it must be coming to the stage where Ancelotti would feel that a loan would be the best option for him, depending on transfers in the summer. I don't see anyone paying good money for him or matching his salary.
For me, he sums up almost perfectly the complete lack of correlation between reward and performance in football.
It's wrong for all parties that its not addressed.
