Then the problem of the lack of quality in the squad is exposed. You play Davies or Schneiderlin and it'll be like playing with 10 men. Silva would be better taking the hit and resting him for a week or two. He hasn't had a pre-season nor had a hectic schedule like this so he needs to rest up.

It was obvious Gomes was struggling and looked shagged mate, also looked he was carrying a knock, yet instead of resting the player looking out of sorts the most he decided to rest Sigurdsson against Brighton, that's bad management.

Yeah I agree. Problem is though, our replacements can't lace his boots.

I think it’s a damning indictment of Davies and Schneiderlin that they’re not considered good enough to slot in as first teamers to rotate Gomes out.

With the player already here a lot of that could have been privately done, if the fee is around 22m then that shouldn't be a major stumbling block either, Malcolm can't sign on loan as we already have the maximum of 2 loans.

Gomes gave us composure we desperately needed.

Not sure what in the hell happened but we gave Lincoln control of the game for too long. Felt like we had no midfield until he came on.

So unless we sign Gomes we cannot loan another player.

Pretty sure you can't loan 2 from the same team either
