if the player does well on loan and has better offers he can refuse to sign for the loan club as salah did to fiorentina.

Why did Barca sign him to begin with? Was he supposed to go straight into the first team?

how bad is the injury he picked up?

This will ultimately be the thing that decides whether he comes or not, I think.

We'll basically - in lieu of a medical - be running through timescales on when he could return to fitness. By the sounds of it, it'd be the end of September, which means he wouldn't be fully ready to play by October at least. So it'll be a case of weighing up that risk.

Christ, we have an entire midfield of minimal talent grinders and yet you’d rather have another one than someone who seemingly can actually play football and pick a pass ?

He can play football and pick a pass, but what’s the point if we can’t win back possession regularly? Counter attack require to win the ball higher up the pitch rather than at the edge of our area. Can he do that regularly? I’m not sure.

a midfielder with no aggression, no ability to harass the ball back will make counterattack system totally ineffective.

I’m not sure what this signing can achieve.

Not a defensive midfielder though. He'll be brought in to play the ball forward, not pass sideways and backwards like our current central midfielders.

True. More and more "permanent" players are getting away with ignoring their contracts too and the final year is now almost meaningless.

We have siggy playing alongside a defensive midfielder once Bernard is onboard. Siggy has excellent passing range and can work tirelessly to get the ball back. So if he’s not better than siggy, what’s the point?

You seen much of him pal? Is he what we need in the middle of the park?

The fact hes injured and they want him means they see him in the system and style of play Marco wants to play

I didn't see much of him at Valencia where, by all accounts, he was superb.

I never really understood why Barca signed him though.

He isn't the quickest but he's a good passer, he's actually strong and quite physical and can certainly get a team 'ticking'. He's had a few decent displays at Barca but, for a variety of reasons not all his own doing, hasn't nailed down a regular spot.

I do think he'd fit Silva's system. I think he'd be an ideal folly for Gueye as his primary focus is to get on the ball and dictate the play, allowing Gana to do the legwork.

You don’t live on Las Ramblas fella. You’re from the States. Go to bed.

I've lived just off Las Ramblas. Finish work and go to supermarket to get the grub for me tea. Get stuck in the queue behind a 20 strong stag party as they purchase enough alcohol to last a year and shout and scream and have the bants.

I don't live there now, but can confirm I never saw @FCBarça around.

On Mr Gomes. If it's a loan, it's true I wouldn't be too worried if it doesn't work out.

That was the main reaction in the first couple months.....why did they sign him.
