I checked out that recipe along with the other ones referenced. I always fancied visiting the mid west, now I understand why they are often referred to as the ‘flyover stats’! ?The South is not responsible for this. Just saying.
Had a great Southern meal in Hilton Head last night. Muffaletta, fried gator, hush puppies, etc.

Sort of a sugar cane soda with sasparilla root. Tastes a bit like Dr Pepper.

A good one is much nicer, but its the same sort o' ting.
Scoop of vanilla ice cream in that glass and you’ll be in heaven (not kidding, and it’s a thing here).
Guinness floats (vanilla ice cream and Guinness) are also delicious.

Ste says it tastes like Dr. Pepper... I can't agree with that. Root beer has an after taste that reminds me of taking medicine. It is a very strange taste.
