What is it with these corn dogs? Are they just hot dog sausages deep fried in batter?

Cornmeal batter, yes.
That's about it. Corn dogs indicate the presence of corn meal in the batter. Otherwise, it's a hot dog on a stick. For those, basic pancake batter will do.What is it with these corn dogs? Are they just hot dog sausages deep fried in batter?
Salad is my staple diet, @RAFUH just not when it comes to american food.

I call on the airport food clause. Airport food is always suspect at best. You can find some, but it's never any good when you go back years later, or it's gone.I had a corn dog in Newark Int. airport.
It wasn't a nice experience.
See that's the thing. Over here hot dog sausages are typically full of dodgy reconstituted meat with a worryingly fine consistency. Cover that in batter and I'd imagine it'd be like eating a deep fried mars bar....

And fried candy/chocolate bars are fair food; not real food. And nasty.
