American Food

Personally I like a bit of chlorine with my chicken.
This mystifies me.

We keep hearing it being alluded to by the British media as a barrier to signing any trade deal with the USA post brexit, but do they REALLY chlorinate chicken in the colonies? If so, why? And how come all the takeout chicken in the States still tastes soooooooo good? @RAFUH , @SerenityNigh any idea?

Doesn't bother me as much as their terrible bacon anyway.

I have no idea if chlorine is in chicken, but it sure doesn't affect the flavor. RAFUH can probably tell you why, but my answer is simple: practice.

There's a joint where I live, Southern Classic Chicken, that's known to block traffic in the evenings when the line for the drive through (takeaway) goes around the store and out into the street. (I've seen that at two different locations). We like the chicken, and you don't have to look like Dave Chappelle to enjoy it.

Salt. Lots and lots of salt.

They seem healthy enough. Or no less healthy than us.

Not the live chicken, but once slaughtered they are given a chlorine bath to kill bacteria such as salmonella.
