the thing is nerves can get the better of people in different ways. 22 years old taking a penalty to get your team into a cup semi. Not sure how I'd take a penalty tbh.

No, he doesn't. He needs to do his talking on the pitch and produce good performances, which he's started to do recently.

I've not got a single iota of doubt that Dyche will rip him a new one, but also will support him to get better and realise how unprofessional that was.

I actually do think it was better.
Have a look at the clip I posted under yours, aside from skipping up to the ball, he basically passed it to the keeper. At least Count Cigular tried to feign / misdirect the keeper.
