Am I Crazy?

IF (CAPITAL LETTERS)...Pienaar can get and stay healthy...his attributes would seem to my admittedly untrained eyes...to be a perfect #10. He's always had some of the best on ball skills in our side, and his vision and knack for a clever pass has always impressed me. He doesn't have the legs to play out wide anymore, and he was always tucking in anyway with Baines out wide...which is obviously not a feature of our team anymore.

It's a moot point now, but when Pienaar returns, why not play him centrally and conduct the orchestra?

Ok now you can tell me I'm crazy.

It's all over mate, 35 yr old who is busted and slow. Played there for Ajax when he was younger and should have been played there far more often. That ship has sailed and now needs to be offloaded alongside 5 or 6 others.

To your point, the fact that this is even being discussed, highlights just how badly Martinez missed the mark this summer.

Should have been n10 for the last 5 years, probably the most intelligent footballer we've had in the last 10 years.

Our current best number 10 is Osman, the season before last Osman played pretty much every game and look where we finished. The team lacks a brain.

Without wishing to conjure images of Frankenstein, if Osman had Barkley's body, we'd have a hell of a player. And no, I don't want to see that in photoshop thank you!

im pretty sure martinez is banking on barkley to become our number ten. i said this before, and im still unsure he has what it takes to do it.. alltho the start to this season has made me more optimistic

Agree with your sentiment but the words highlighted are a contradiction :)

Back when Pienaar first joined, Moyes tried him in the middle, but it didn't work, he got muscled off the ball and never really looked comfortable there, he does his best work out on the left for us and he and Baines formed a great partnership
