anyone think that he would be a decent signing??

he only has 12 months left on his contract, we desperately need a right back and towards the end of the season, he was one of Liverpools better players.

I understand that people will think "if there not good enough for liverpool then there not good enough for Everton" but i don't know any kopites that dispise Arbeloa, infact i know a few that rate him highly.

He's also a Spanish International.

he's a good player but i think we would end up overpaying for him. with jacobsen as cover i think we can last another season, then hopefully we can progress in some of the cups and have a little more money to spend next season on a solid right back (or a top 4 finish would do the trick as well)

The main problem I see with signing a good player from one of the top teams is their wages. I know we have signed Neville and Howard from ManU and they don't go for the ridiculous amount some players demand now, but I have this suspicion that it's a bit different now.

He will probably cost us £5-6M even though he's on a short contract (just because it's us).. his weekly wage is probably around £55k, so that's another £3M/year. Better to splash out perhaps £7-8M on a younger player with a weekly salary of around £30k.
