I think it was to do with his hernia and waiting for the surgery.
He was very prominent on the touchline - shouting and encouraging the players. I think if he fell out with Lampard he wouldn't have even been in the squad.

I think hes a really good guy and a proper leader. His legs have probably gone, and he was not at his best with the hernia, but the fact he played through it says a lot.

I honestly think Allan's passion and love of a solid tackle combined with a younger mans legs is our perfect DM. Hes one of the players Ive never doubted his desire to put a shift in and do the hard work, but he doesnt seem to have the legs to do it by himself, probably because he spent so much of his career banging his legs against other guys legs. No doubt a top leader, but I think really needs someone youthful and with absolute boundless energy next to him.
