For a central defensive midfielder he seems to spend a lot of time on the wrong side of the opponents attacking players then resorts to grabbing, dragging and tripping. Can't pass or cross either. Never rated him.

The problem is that we think he is something he is not. He's not Mauro Silva. His success in Serie A was primarily as a hard-working box-to-box midfielder, and where his job was primarily to win second balls and to protect Jorginho. In that role, he was incredibly good, but eventually he was hit by injuries, and Napoli changed manager and system. He became slower and far less mobile, and got another role, which he was far from as good at. When we bought him, he had peaked a long time ago, and moreover, we use him in a role in which he is very mediocre.
I dont rate him. Easy for opponents to play against. That Newcastle midfield bossed him and he wasnt up against Keane and Viera
Back to doing three players worth of work tonight. Gomes was non existent and he needs help.
He was poor like everyone else, but he had so few options all game. They trained last week to pass through the 6, that player being Allan, to do that requires a lot of moving off the ball, and we were shocking at that today.
