I'm not sure how this has been calculated, but the counter-argument may be as follows: Tackles say more about the team's style of play, than about how good the players are in the defensive phase. A lot of tackles can also be an indication that the player is often in the wrong positions in relation to the opponent on the field. I'm not saying that Allan is not a good player, but I agree with the objection that he is often in the wrong position. This statistic can also be used as an argument for just that.

And yet I'd rather have an out of position player who wins tackles than an out of position player who loses them or doesn't bother.
 

He was really disciplined first game against spuds, and most of the game against WBA, his lack of or lesser discipline seems to have coincided with the 3rd member of midfield who isn't playing well.
