We go with the dross from last season and we don't make the quarters. Simple as that. Last year's edition would have folded like a cheap tent after West Ham equalized. You know that as well as I do. We want to be considered one of the bigger clubs? Winning a trophy would be a good start.
Our four most crucial players should not ALL have been playing in the LC at home to West Ham.

You know that. It was a major gamble and it's cost us.

We are a big team. Big history, ever present PL team, massive fanbase and half a billion spent in 3 seasons.

Finished 12th last year and won nothing for 25 years. Ask anyone under 30 if Everton are a big club. You won’t like the answers.

To be fair it's cost us nothing yet.
At least Allan is not travelling around the world now for internationals.

Chance for the crap from last season to step up.
You never know they may just grasp their chance.

We should be treating the LC seriously at the QF stage.

With a half arsed team out tonight we wouldn't have been in a position to take the LC seriously.

Ancelotti got that team spot on and our class shine through in the end. The injuries are obviously an absolute sickener but they happen on any given day.

We are through to the next round and that's the most important thing. Far too many seasons of getting knocked out of the cups because we didn't go full tilt at it.

Gamble? No. Statement? Yes. We're in things to win things. Who would you have rested? DCL can't play as a lone striker, so Richarlison has to be in there. Take out James and who's gonna pull the strings in midfield? Siggy and Davies? Siggurdsson is only playing better because, as others have said, he's got better players around him. Takes out James and Allan and he reverts to last season's form. Besides, injuries can come at any time, even in training. If the same players had gone down v. Brighton, what would be the difference? They'd still be injured, only with less time to recover before the derby.
