Confirmed Signing Allan

Literally nobody has said we shouldn't get this done urgently though.

The deal is being worked on. We might not want to pay Napoli an extra £5m right now, or £10m. You can say 'that's not a lot', but it really, really is. It's a £100k p/wk player (or two).

It's being worked on. Had he been signed last week, or the week before, he wouldn't have played today. He wouldn't have even started pre-season, tbh.
This is where everton does not plan long term well...let say he signs enf of september...and we manage to save 5 mil...a few weeks to adapt to a new country/language/football...we could already be out of contention for top 7 finish by then and the 5 mil saved will cost us at the end of the season in final pl position. So not only the 5 mil saved is wiped out as less revenue, but we do not even make it into europe even more revenue lost.

We're trying to get this wrapped up before the season starts, which is in 3 weeks. Same with Doucoure.

id pay 50 mil just so tom davies doesnt have to start for us in midfield ever again

This is why it annoyed me when the other day it came out that Allan had agreed terms with Everton but we were offering 25mil but Napoli want 30 mil or something, haggling over 5mil, fare enough as some posters said that's a wage for some players, I just think when your midfield is as piss poor as ours is then you just have to get the players in and try and save the money elsewhere, I don't know how because that's not my job lol

We gave the top 7 half a year head start last season and were right in contention with a handful of easy games left. I doubt top 7 will be written off after 3 games.

That's what people said when we were haggling over £5m for Siggurdson.

Sound, so let's not buy Allan and make do with Siggurdson and Davies because it 'might' be worse, we got it wrong with Siggurdson doesn't mean we say we never pay for a player again and have to make do with what we've got, we need to improve and to do that the buisness side of Everton will have to spend money

I absolutely get the club gets the best possible deal in any transfer , but my big fear is we are dealing with a propper crank in Napoli's president.

He shifted the goalposts when we had a deal for Gabbiadini a few years ago.
Even Moshiri admitted he matched the buy out for Koulibaly only for him to pull the plug on the deal.

After all the chatter and info being leaked i hope we tie this up quickly now.
Be a big kick in the teeth if this fails.

Overpaying for players isn't a good long term strategy. I'm sure if Walsh was in this thread then he'd agree with you though.
