The faster this is wrapped up the better. This could be the catalyst for the rest of the window falling into place...hopefully...

Not sure mate.

Napoli need to sell. They don't want the player. The player only wants to sign for Everton.

If the roles were reversed, we wouldn't think Everton were in a strong position.

Let it drag on, get the best deal Everton can.

Oh 100%, I have no qualms for waiting for a better price (exactly what we should be doing with Doucouré if they’re serious) but for me, this particular transfer could be so pivotal it makes me anxious the longer it drags on. The fact it’s pretty well documented that he wants us only does alleviate some of that but at the end of day, if a CL club comes in for him that sentiment could be challenged. He would transform us, maybe I’m bed wetting a little bit

Whatever is quoted, I don't think many teams in Europe have much dosh and the few that do won't be looking to match a deal for a 29-year potentially costing £30m+ and significant wages - only a handful of Premier League clubs will be able to do these kind of deals.

Can't see Spanish clubs doing much business at all and German clubs get good value because have always refused to pay over the odds. In France, Lille have done business but have FFP problems, Lyon will have some Champs League money but even then more likely to sell more than buy, so only PSG with the resources. Italy is usually about wheeling-and-dealing, often see more player exchanges than straight cash deals, perhaps Inter can spend - Napoli spent big already on Osimhen so need to recoup via selling the likes of Allan and Koulibaly, and even the proverbial bi-spenders like Juve look like they need to cut their cloth accordingly.

In summary - not ideal for season preparations, but not worried and would rather wait until the price is right.

Yeah but having him in for the September matches will be an advantage too. Could potentially have 6 games before deadline day, if we want to progress in the cup.

It's a balance really. We need to be far more sensible with our transfers but early signings are still far better.

I'm all for holding out for the best deal but i also want to get the guy through the door for pre season & start influencing the thought process of actual football to the rest of our squad.
That’s obviously the balancing act. On the other side, Napoli will be looking to get the deal done so they can sort their recruitment. Bit of a poker game but hopefully for once we have the stronger cards.

Whilst I totally see the sense in that mate, bringing him in early would also prevent the need for 50% of GOT members to visit the hospital to have their wrists sutured. ;)
