Definitely works harder at it because she's a target for all the lazy gammons. Always been fairly impressed though it is a very low bar she's up against most of the time.

I much prefer listening to the pundits on BT when the CL is on - football journalists who actually know what they're talking about because they'll sit and watch the full 90 minutes of a lot of games every week, research, interview people, know the rules and then write about it in great detail. They generally have a very detailed knowledge about teams, players and managers.

Most ex-pros are too lazy and base their punditry on reputations, tropes and insisting they know more because they're "football people" as if the rules or the ability to spot something is beyond those who haven't played top flight football. A lot of them don't even understand the rules of the game and instead believe their opinion of what should be is more valid than the actual rules when slating a decision. It's astonishing.

McManaman's an example. Wittering on asking what the touchline assistants behind the goal at CL matches do. Because they don't signal to the crowd or make gestures he assumes they do nothing but if he had the slightest understanding or did the most rudimentary of research he'd realise that they are used heavily and assist the ref in making decisions and spotting stuff via mic.

I rarely listen to punditry but came across her on goals on Sunday last year and she is excellent, I’d watch her now.

Only good pundit in the Uk for my money, Souness isn’t bad either after he spread his punditry wings in different countries, was dire before.

I find it slightly amusing that in this day and age of equal genders, corporations trying to rid sexism, football being a game played by men and women, Darts and F1 banning women being portrayed as eye candy etc etc. The BBC employ the best looking ex- female footballer they can find to be a pundit

Well she's clearly a natural broadcaster with a broad and in-depth knowledge of football and she will have passed screen tests etc before going on camera. Obviously, she's a very good looking lady but I think that's just a bonus rather than an actual pre-requisite for being sought for, then getting the gig

This works both ways though. She is actually decent at her job (was a pretty good footballer too actually) yet you are assuming that she got her job based on her looks when her work merits her being there. No doubt some will think she ticks some LGBT quota as well.

In all fairness she’s won (according to Wiki) 6 league titles, 7 FA Cups and a Champions’ League among others, while making 140 appearances for England.

Being nice looking is obviously never a hindrance, but I don’t think that’s the thing here.

I do agree,I like her and she adds a lot.

I think she’s cack. The way she moves her hands when she speaks irritates me more than it should too, Kelly Cates does the same with her hands too. I would though x 2. Alex first.

Sky must have beaten them to that irritating little kopite with the stupid hair.

..I did hope this was about Chico but never mind. Thanks for the memories.

Not convinced about this lady as a punter but there are now some very good women cricket commentators.
