My step brother works for the BBC up north and he said Salmond is guilty as hell but was always going to get off as one witness never showed and some of the other evidence around the trial was quite weak although there has been long standing rumors about him and his habits for years.

Ah possibly/probably GT. All speculation anyways and I shouldn’t really be focussing on that, given the severity of the accusations. I guess he was found not guilty by people sitting through hours of evidence which is more than can be said for myself.
