I think he can play as an no.8, just not in a midfield two. He travels well with the ball and looks for a forward pass, just positional awareness isn't the best and he definitely isn't going to be throwing any tackles in. Needs a free roaming role otherwise he probably shouldn't be a starter.

If he shows the same aggression and work rate on the defensive side of the ball that he did towards the end of last season, he will probably start. That will solve one of the spots in the midfield if he brings the same form.
