Which is a little odd, considering what you just posted in the listening thread. Climb out of your cave comrade, a whole world of tunes await you! The links will take you on a journey...some will no doubt make you puke but you might find a gem in there somewhere.

:)

I stopped buying albums when napster was a boy.

I just realised the last album I bought was 'Yield' by Pearl Jam.

Been doing some research and heres the list of highest grossing films of all time

1. Titanic ('97) 600m
2. The Dark Knight ('08) 533m
3. Star Wars ('77) 461m
4. Shrek 2 ('04) 436m
5. ET ('82) 435m
6. Star Wars Ep I. ('99) 431m
7. Pirates DMC ('06) 423m
8. Spiderman ('02) 403m
9. Transformers ROTF('09) 402m
10. Star Wars Ep III ('05) 380m

Compared to the Top ten selling albums of all time.

1. Thriller ('82) 110m copies
2. Back In Black ('80) 49m
3. Dark Side of the Moon ('73) 45m
4. Bat out of Hell ('77) 43m
5. Eagles Greatest Hits ('76) 42m
6. Dirty Dancing ('87) 42m
7. The Bodyguard ('92) 42m
8. Phantom of the Opera ('86) 40m
9. Millenium ('99) 40m
10. Saturday Night Fever ('77) 40m

Which leads me to believe
a- The album reached its musical peak in 1982.
b- 1977 was a good year for the album
c- 6 out of the top 10 films were released this decade.
d- none of the top 10 albums were released this decade.
e- Albums are on their way out.
f- Movies are better than albums.
g- I always wanted to see these two side by side to compere them. And now I have.

The top 10 albums list cracks me up as I only own one of them. Never been a big movie watcher myself. I see about 6 new ones a year and that's not even in the theatre.

There are albums I've listened to at least 100+ times, though. Music for me, any day.

I know, ACDC the second biggest sellers in History.

Theyve just done a world tour and new album, they are absolutely raking in the cash.

In no particular order:-

Travis - the invisible band
Pulp - we love life
The flaming lips - Yoshimi battles the pink robots
Grandaddy - The Sophtware slump
Coldplay - A rush of blood to the head
David gray - life in slow motion
Kaiser Chiefs - unemployment
The Killers - day and age
Keane - hopes and fears
Grandaddy - Sumday

Libertines-Up The Bracket
Arctic Monkeys-Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

Are the only albums in recent memory which i thought were great.

Too hungover to do a top 30 or whatever that is. Some albums that I listen to a lot recently. I can't remember if they're from this decade or not. Probably are though. Maybe.

Twilight Sad - Forget the night ahead.

Built to Spill - Keep it like a Secret

Mogwai - Young Team (probably my all time favourite album)

Some good shouts...again, this was off the top of my head and I could've made it 50 long but 20 was more than enough work with tags and all that. I thought there'd be all kinds of discussion going on when I got back today, considering how big the listening thread is. It is Sunday, too...hmm. Just a note, all the album titles in my list will take you to Lala, where you can listen to them all if you want.
